Description

Range:  $68K-$78K


DEVELOPMENT AND ADMINISTRATION  

  • Human Resources policies and procedures 
  • Compensation and job classification plan 
  • Recruitment and employment program 
  • Employee benefit plans 
  • Employee training and development 
  • Employee relations, initiatives and activities 
  • Human Resource Information System and departmental files 
  • Assist and advise all departments in Human Resource matters 
  • Point person for legal contacts concerning employment related issues 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Establish and maintain Human Resource records.
  • Recruit, screen and conduct reference checks of applicants for all positions within the organization.
  • Maintain applicant tracking and hiring files. 
  • Maintain and provide current information on benefits such as Social Security, retirement and insurance.
  • Establish, administer, explain and maintain the employee performance evaluation system. 
  • Assist Supervisors in counseling employees on any problem affecting their work.
  • Interpret and explain Human Resource policies and procedures to department heads, employees and applicants. 
  • Orient new employees to include explanation of benefits and understanding of organizational policies.
  • Conduct exit interviews with all employees at separation to deliver final check, benefit continuance, etc. 
  • Coordinate unemployment claims and hearings in order to represent the Mission’s best interests. 
  • Scrutinize payroll for compliance issues related to wage and hour.

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION 

  • Complete and submit all necessary benefits forms for new employees to acquire coverage in accordance with policy.
  • Ensure that monthly benefits forms are completed and payments for all benefits coverage are submitted in order to maintain current coverage. 
  • Ensure that updated vacation/sick times are accrued for each employee in order to maintain current records of these benefits.
  • Coordinate employee deductions with payroll. 
  • Coordinate and update salary increases with payroll.
  • Maintain salary range for each position within the organization and check that these ranges are followed to ensure that all wages are distributed in a fair and equitable manner. 

INSURANCE/SAFETY/LOSS CONTROL

  • Keep all organization policies updated and current to ensure continuous and adequate coverage. 
  • Maintain updated schedule of policies in force. 
  • Obtain MVR’s on all employees who drive organizational vehicles and keep an updated list of authorized drivers. 
  • Maintain an updated list of vehicles and drivers to distribute to insurance agent as required. 
  • Coordinate and approve the development of safety and training programs with the Safety Co-Chair in order to ensure a safe and effective working environment. 

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT 

  • Identify training needs within the organization that would increase the effectiveness of our ministry. 
  • Obtain or plan and present training programs that will meet the needs of the organization.
  • Maintain records of all staff training and development. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Perform related work and other duties when required and as assigned. 
  • Attend team meetings as requested. 
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Working knowledge of current laws, regulations, methods, and procedures in Human Resource management. 
  • Working knowledge of the guiding principles and philosophy of not-for-profit, faith-based organizations. 
  • Ability to write clear, accurate, and logical reports and procedures. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all organizational levels and particularly with the Mission Leadership Team. 

PHYSICAL FACTORS 

  • Sitting for extended periods of time. 
  • Occasional standing, reaching, bending, twisting and stooping. 
  • Frequent moving and walking. 

SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide spiritual encouragement to staff, volunteers, guests, and residents. 
  • Invest in the spiritual development of staff, guests, residents, and donors. 
  • Pray for and with staff, volunteers, guests, residents, and donors. 
  • Ensure actions and policies reflect the Christian values and purpose of the Mission. 
  • Handle relational conflicts according to the Staff Covenant of Romans 12:18 and Matthew 18:15-19 7. 
  • Memorize monthly Scripture, Mission Statement, and Mission Core Values. 
  • Participate in corporate prayer and Scripture reading, staff chapel services, and all spiritual gatherings. 
  • Support and attend annual mandatory Evangelism in Service training to grow in knowledge of leading others to faith in Christ. 
  • Participate in annual spiritual growth training through organization selected curriculum. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • B.S. in Human Resources or Business Management with significant coursework in Human Resource Management. 
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in the field of Human Resource Management. 
  • Must be teachable and function as a team player.
  • Must display respect, gentleness and accountability. 
  • Must exhibit exemplary character and integrity. 
  • Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities. 
  • Must take an active part ensuring the safety, health and well-being of all of our employees, volunteers and Mission guests.
