Job Title: Powder Coater

Position Summary

Harlan Global Manufacturing is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Powder Coater to support our production operations. This role is responsible for the preparation, application, and finishing of powder-coated components used in heavy-duty industrial equipment. The ideal candidate will take pride in producing consistent, high-quality finishes while meeting production deadlines and maintaining strict safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare metal components for coating through cleaning, masking, sandblasting, and pre-treatment processes 
  • Apply powder coating using electrostatic spray equipment to meet company quality and thickness specifications 
  • Operate and monitor curing ovens, ensuring proper temperature control and cure cycles 
  • Inspect finished parts for coating defects, adhesion, and overall quality standards 
  • Perform rework or touch-ups as required to meet customer and internal specifications 
  • Maintain and clean powder coating equipment, booths, and work areas 
  • Track and record production output, defects, and rework in accordance with company procedures 
  • Coordinate with fabrication, welding, and assembly teams to ensure smooth workflow 
  • Follow all Harlan Global Manufacturing safety policies, including proper use of PPE and hazardous material handling 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and lean manufacturing practices
Requirements

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required 
  • 1–3+ years of powder coating, industrial painting, or metal finishing experience preferred 
  • Familiarity with electrostatic spray systems and curing ovens 
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and coating specifications 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship 
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the shift (8–10+ hours) 
  • Ability to lift and handle parts up to 50 lbs 
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including heat and industrial conditions 
  • Use of respirators and other PPE required 

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced manufacturing facility producing industrial equipment 
  • Exposure to heat, dust, and airborne particulates 
  • Regular interaction with production machinery and material handling equipment 

Performance Expectations (KPIs)

  • Meet daily and weekly production output targets 
  • Maintain first-pass quality rates and minimize rework 
  • Adhere to safety standards with zero preventable incidents 
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area (5S compliance)
