Description

 

The Poetry Foundation is seeking a full-time editorial content producer. The editorial content producer supports and expands Poetry magazine’s digital publishing through the production and management of multimedia content for the Poetry Foundation website and other digital channels. The key function of this role is to expand the experience of Poetry magazine into compelling, accessible digital forms that enrich the audience experience.  As a member of the editorial team, the editorial content producer will also consult with creative and IT teams to deliver high-quality multimedia content that aligns with editorial department goals. This role reports to the managing editor. 


The Poetry Foundation is a hybrid workplace. This position will be in-person at our Chicago offices three days per week, with the option to work from home two days per week.


The salary range for this role is $90,000 - 100,000. The final offer amount will be based on the candidate’s skills and experience, and will be aligned with our internal pay structure.


 

Key Responsibilities


Multimedia Content Production

  • Collaborate with editorial team colleagues to develop dynamic audio/visual accompaniments to Poetry’s print publication;
  • Manage the production of multimedia editorial content for digital channels on schedule and within budget;
  • Steward existing relationships (e.g. contributors, contractors, etc.)  and develop new relationships to produce relevant multimedia content;
  • Coordinate timelines, approvals, budgets, drafts, and deliverables with internal stakeholders and external contractors;
  • Edit audio and video content for various channels as needed;
  • Ensure multimedia content aligns with the Foundation’s editorial standards, mission, and brand.

Managing audio/visual streams

  • Manage existing audio/visual streams, including podcasts and audio poems;
  • Advise on web user experience with a focus on accessibility;
  • Obtain and maintain rights for multimedia content including video and music licensing and archival materials;
  • Guide the organization, documentation, and long-term stewardship of multimedia assets in coordination with the IT team;
  • Identify trends for how audiences are engaging with digital content, and suggest opportunities in Poetry editorial streams.

Audience Engagement

  • Develop audiovisual content that brings attention to existing (current and archival) print content;
  • Recommend and test strategies to grow audiences for current digital and audio/visual series;
  • Track analytics for all digital content and share with editorial and relevant teams;
  • Work closely with the communications team to share and promote content in creative and mission-aligned ways.
Requirements

 

A well-matched candidate will bring the following skills to the role:

  • 3+ years of experience producing and editing multimedia (audio/video) content for digital channels;
  • 3+ years of experience in digital publishing;
  • 1+ years of experience obtaining necessary rights and licenses for multimedia projects;
  • Experience managing contractors to produce high-quality audio/video content;
  • Exceptional written and digital communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content;
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously;
  • Ability to work under deadlines and complete administrative tasks meticulously;
  • Experience working collaboratively within a professional setting and across departments;
  • Experience using Google Analytics, Asana, Craft, and editing software (Adobe Premier Pro, Final Cut Pro, and/or Adobe Audition) preferred
