Line Cook – Enriched Living / Inspired Living

The Line Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality, flavorful, and visually appealing meals for residents, guests, and visitors within Holbrook’s Enriched Living and Inspired Living dining environments. This role requires consistency, attention to detail, a strong understanding of culinary standards, and the ability to execute meals that support both hospitality expectations and the unique needs of assisted living and memory care residents.

The Line Cook plays an important role in delivering a refined dining experience by preparing food with proper technique, honoring recipes and presentation standards, maintaining a clean and organized workstation, and ensuring all meals are produced safely, accurately, and on time. This position requires professionalism, pride in craftsmanship, and a resident-first mindset.

Key responsibilities include:

Prepare and execute menu items including appetizers, entrées, sides, desserts, modified diets, and special requests in accordance with Holbrook culinary standards.

Set up assigned station according to community guidelines and service needs, including sauté, grill, broil, fry, pantry, production, or prep stations.

Follow standardized recipes, portion controls, plating specifications, and menu guidelines to ensure consistency, quality, and cost control.

Prepare food using proper culinary techniques, seasoning, cooking methods, and presentation standards to ensure meals are flavorful, attractive, and appropriate for the resident population served.

Ensure meals are prepared and served according to the approved menu, resident diet preferences, texture modifications, allergy requirements, and service timelines.

Maintain strong awareness of resident preferences, special requests, and dietary needs while delivering a hospitality-focused dining experience.

Inspect ingredients for freshness, quality, and proper storage before use, reporting any concerns to culinary leadership.

Maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and organized workstation throughout the shift in accordance with food safety standards, community expectations, and regulatory requirements.

Monitor food temperatures, holding standards, labeling, dating, cooling, and storage procedures to ensure compliance with food safety guidelines.

Restock station items, ingredients, tools, and service supplies throughout the shift to support uninterrupted meal service.

Assist with daily prep, production, batch cooking, and service execution to ensure meals are ready on time and meet Holbrook quality expectations.

Communicate professionally with culinary leadership, dining team members, and other departments to support smooth kitchen operations and resident satisfaction.

Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, equipment, walk-in coolers, dry storage, and production areas.

Support special events, theme meals, holiday meals, and elevated dining experiences as directed by culinary leadership.

Demonstrate reliability, urgency, teamwork, and accountability in a fast-paced senior living hospitality environment.

Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and commitment to Holbrook’s standards of service, dignity, and resident care.


Requirements

Position Requirement:

  • Have a high school diploma; culinary degree preferred.
  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Have a good work ethic and be punctual.
  • Have some knowledge of food preparation and health and safety standards.
  • Have an understanding of cooking methods and ingredients.
  • Know how to properly use and maintain station equipment.
  • Be able to follow directions.
  • Be customer-oriented; have a “guest-first” mentality.
  • Be able to work successfully in a team environment.
  • Be able to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Have good problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Be self-motivated and have initiative.
  • Be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays.
  • Have the ability to reach, bend and stoop and frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Have good manual dexterity and gross motor skills.
  • Be willing to take, and able to pass, a drug screen.
  • Be willing to submit to, and able to pass, a criminal background check
