Job Summary:
The 3D Coordinator Intern will be responsible for operating and maintaining 3D Printing and Scanning equipment and preparing digital models for 3Dprint, while ensuring the quality and accuracy of each printed object. They will be accountable for researching 3D Printers and Scanning equipment, materials, and suppliers to help NOA Brands continue to stay on top of their innovative processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in 3D design, product design, excellent project management skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while possessing an attitude of curiosity and innovation on leveraging latest technology advancements into our product pipeline.
What You Will Do:
- Printer Operation: Setting up and operating 3D printers, including selecting the right printing parameters and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the printing process.
- Post-Processing: Handling post-printing processes, such as removing supports, sanding, painting, or assembling printed parts.
- Material Selection: Choosing appropriate materials for printing based on the desired properties of the final product, such as durability, flexibility, and finish.
- Design and Modeling: Using CAD software to ideate concepts or create detailed and precise 3D models of mannequins, props, displays, and fixtures when needed.
- Prototyping: Developing prototypes of designs to test functionality and aesthetics before final production.
- Collaboration: Working with engineers and product designers to understand client requirements, provide design solutions, and ensure the final prints meets specifications.
- Innovation and Creativity: Staying updated with the latest advancements in 3D printing technology and incorporating innovative techniques into the design process.
- Quality Control: Ensuring that the final printed products meet quality standards and specifications through rigorous testing and inspection.
- Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of design iterations, printing parameters, and material usage for future reference and improvement.
What It Takes to Succeed :
- · Currently pursuing or recently completed a BA / BFA / BS in Industrial Design, Digital Design, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience/coursework)
- · Some coursework or hands-on exposure to 3D printers or similar equipment (academic or personal projects acceptable)
- · Basic familiarity with slicer software and general 3D printer setup/maintenance (training provided)
- · Exposure to 3D scanning equipment (e.g., Artec Leo, Spider)
- · Foundational understanding of common 3D printing materials and their applications
- · Beginner to intermediate experience with 3D design software (e.g., 3ds Max, ZBrush, Maya, Fusion 360, or similar)
- · Basic understanding of 3D printing and design workflows
- · Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn hands-on processes
- · Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- · Familiarity with CAD and/or 3D scanning concepts
- · Ability to follow instructions, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing project timelines and requirements
- · Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members, department managers, and direct reports
- · Professional demeanor when interacting with clients and models
- · Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and work both independently and as part of a team
- · Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment while meeting deadlines
- · Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- · Ability to operate handheld scanning equipment for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
- · Ability to stand, stoop, bend, twist, and move as needed to scan objects or live models
