Description

The High Value Parts Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day High Value Core (HVC) operations for an assigned yard. This role ensures the identification, recovery, inventory management, documentation, and shipment of high-value parts while maintaining safety, quality, and operational efficiency. The Lead serves as the subject matter expert for HVC operations at their location, providing daily direction to the HVC team and partnering with the Plant Manager to maximize inventory recovery and operational performance.


The ideal candidate ensures that no high-value core or part is overlooked and that every shipment is documented with 100% accuracy.


Key Responsibilities & Essential Job Duties

Yard HVC Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day High Value Core operations for the assigned yard.
  • Develop and execute the daily strategy for identifying and pulling high-value cores and parts.
  • Ensure all required high-value parts are recovered, processed, and staged according to production schedules.
  • Monitor daily productivity and adjust priorities to meet operational goals.
  • Ensure proper organization, storage, and security of all high-value inventory.

Leadership & Team Coordination

  • Provide daily leadership and direction to the High Value Core team.
  • Assign work, establish daily priorities, and monitor productivity throughout the shift.
  • Coach team members on safety, quality, and proper pulling techniques.
  • Partner with the Plant Manager to improve operational performance and inventory recovery.
  • Assist with training new team members on HVC processes and procedures.

Inventory, Logistics & Documentation

  • Ensure Bills of Lading (BOLs), shipping documentation, and inventory records are accurate and complete.
  • Coordinate shipments with freight carriers and vendors.
  • Enter daily production and inventory information into company systems.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate discrepancies.

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized HVC work area.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, company safety policies, and PPE requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections of work areas and equipment.
  • Promote safe work practices and immediately address safety concerns.

Operational Support

  • Remain hands-on by assisting with pulling parts and removing components using hand and power tools as needed.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and company systems to track inventory, production, and performance.
  • Respond promptly to emails and operational requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day leadership and work direction to the High Value Core team within the assigned yard.
  • Assists with training, coaching, scheduling, and monitoring employee performance.
  • Supports the Plant Manager with staffing needs, performance feedback, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience

  • Proven experience in inventory management, logistics, or automotive/parts salvage.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and digital inventory systems.

Mechanical Skills

  • Proficient with basic hand tools; must be "handy with a wrench."

Communication

  • Excellent verbal and written communication; professional email etiquette.

Leadership 

  • Natural team leader with a focus on accountability and organization.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment  

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.
  • The employee may be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment. Must be able to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles that may require getting into awkward positions. May regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE). May be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
  • Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
