Davenergy Solutions is seeking a full-time Architect - Construction Manager to join our team supporting projects at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center in Bay Pines, Florida.
This program includes new construction and phased renovation work on an active VA medical campus, including historic buildings. The work consists of a multi-million-dollar renovation of the main hospital building and related infrastructure improvements, with projects occurring in various stages including planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout. This position serves as the Owner’s Representative supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs during construction activities. Some of the duties of the successful candidate include:
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine field inspections to verify construction complies with contract documents, approved submittals, and applicable codes and standards.
- Observe contractor and subcontractor work; identify and report issues related to workmanship, materials, safety, and code compliance. Assist in developing punch lists and tracking corrective actions through completion.
- Maintain and review marked-up drawings and documentation to support development of as-built records.
- Prepare daily reports documenting construction progress, manpower, work activities, and site conditions.
- Maintain organized project files, including inspection reports, correspondence, photographs, and deficiency logs.
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs, testing reports, and inspection documentation.
- Assist with preparation and review of change orders, cost proposals, and contract modifications as requested.
- Review contractor payment applications and provide recommendations to the VA Senior Resident Engineer (SRE), as applicable.
- Support contract close-out activities, including final inspections and documentation.
- Attend weekly project meetings and coordinate with project stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and VA staff.
- Assist with coordination of special inspections, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Support site safety efforts by working with the Safety Manager to observe and document compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Document field conditions and events that may impact schedule, cost, or quality, and communicate observations to the SRE. Provide input to the project schedule as requested.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of construction experience; experience with healthcare or federal projects preferred.
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and construction contract administration is a plus.
- Working knowledge of building, safety, and environmental codes.
- General understanding of civil, architectural, and structural systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, ladders, and access construction personnel hoists.
- Ability to safely navigate active construction sites, including uneven surfaces and partially completed work areas.
- Regular exposure to construction environments, including moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles or fumes, outdoor weather conditions, and potential electrical hazards.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry equipment weighing 10–25 lbs.
