Position Purpose: The Acupuncture Provider at Families Together of Orange County (FTOC) plays a pivotal role in promoting holistic healthcare and patient wellness through the application of acupuncture techniques rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This position is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient-centered care, fostering positive patient experiences, and contributing to the overall success of FTOC's healthcare initiatives. Upholding FTOC's core values and policies, the Acupuncture Provider collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, maintains accurate patient records, and demonstrates commitment to professional development and ethical practice. With a focus on teamwork, patient-centered care, and continuous improvement, the Acupuncture Provider ensures the delivery of high-quality acupuncture services that align with FTOC's mission of providing accessible, compassionate, and culturally competent healthcare to the community.

Core Duties and responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

  1. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history, lifestyle factors, and presenting complaints, to formulate personalized treatment plans
  2. Administer acupuncture treatments using sterile needles and other appropriate techniques to address patient concerns and promote overall wellness
  3. Provide guidance on lifestyle modifications, including diet, exercise, and stress management, to enhance treatment outcomes and maintain health
  4. Monitor patient progress through regular evaluations and adjusts treatment plans as necessary to optimize results
  5. Educate patients on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupuncture techniques, and self-care practices to empower them in their healing journey
  6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, resistance trainers and physical therapists, to ensure comprehensive care and promote integrative medicine approaches
  7. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, documenting treatment sessions, progress notes, and any relevant medical information in compliance with regulatory standards
  8. Adhere to infection control protocols and maintains a clean and safe treatment environment to ensure patient safety and comfort
  9. Continuously engage in professional development activities, such as attending seminars, workshops, and continuing education courses, to stay current with advances in acupuncture and TCM
  10. Provide compassionate and supportive care to patients, addressing their concerns and fostering a therapeutic relationship based on trust and respect
  11. Participate in promotional activities, such as community events or health fairs, to raise awareness about acupuncture services and attract new patients
  12. Demonstrate empathy, cultural sensitivity, and ethical behavior in all interactions with patients and colleagues
  13. Collaborate with billing department to ensure accurate coding and timely reimbursement for services rendered
  14. Adhere to all legal and ethical standards governing the practice of acupuncture, including licensure requirements and scope of practice regulations
  15. Participate in peer review and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of care provided and promote patient satisfaction
  16. Engage in self-care practices to prevent burnout and maintain physical, emotional, and mental well-being
  17. Ability to efficiently manage the treatment of 3-4 patients per hour in an open bay treatment area
  18. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Director, Director of Patient Support Services and/or Wellness Program Manager to support the efficient operation of the acupuncture practice

Requirements

Education, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Board Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) in California or eligible for licensure
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrates excellent bedside manner and teamwork skills
  • Proficient in computer usage and demonstrates responsiveness to stakeholder needs
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems preferred
  • Capable clinician with efficient patient management skills and strong interpersonal abilities
  • Bilingual: Spanish (Preferred but not required)


Work Schedule:

  • FTOC is an in-person organization first, and foremost. Employees are expected to be on-site for their scheduled shifts.
  • Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., this position is seeking 9 AM - 5 PM scheduled work days. However, employee schedules vary, depending on organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs. As such, FTOC may need to modify work schedules to meet such needs.
  • Holidays and weekends may be required depending on an employee’s department due to organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs as FTOC continues to grow and expand work days and hours. 
  • Overtime may also occur due to organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs. 


Work Location:

  • While employees may be assigned a primary site (Tustin, Garden Grove, Fountain Valley, Wellness Center, Mobile Units, Treehaven, Magnolia, Telehealth, etc.), employees may be required to temporarily fill in at another site based on organizational, staffing, community, and patient needs.


Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel will be required. Employees must be able to travel to FTOC sites as needed, including with short notice.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to drive to FTOC facilities as needed. The ability to sit for extended periods of time, and the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
