As the Payroll & HRIS Analyst, you serve as the Paylocity system owner for Revel Communities, with primary responsibility for HRIS data integrity, reporting, and governance across the employee lifecycle. The role combines ongoing HRIS optimization, reporting, and control design with the accurate, timely, and compliant execution of multi-state, multi-entity payroll.
You own payroll and Time & Labor system configuration, controls, audits, and downstream reporting, with a strong focus on preventing errors through upstream data and process improvements. This role bridges HRIS architecture and payroll execution to improve data quality, reduce rework, and support scalable people operations.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Own end-to-end payroll execution (bi-weekly + off-cycle/special runs), including payroll calendar, cutoffs, approvals, and on-time submission.
- Run pre-payroll audits and resolve exceptions (timecards, changes, time-off, missed pay, final pay inputs, void/reissue, direct deposit), coordinating with site leaders and maintaining ongoing payroll notes and a carry-forward tracker.
- Ensure multi-state payroll compliance and complex issue resolution, including overtime/regular-rate impacts of non-discretionary bonuses/commissions and required retro premium adjustments; document rationale and implement corrective controls.
- Own payroll reporting, reconciliations, and finance tie-outs (standard report packets, labor distribution, deduction/earning audits, variance reviews, correction logs) and provide ad hoc payroll data extracts as needed.
- Build and maintain repeatable reporting tools (Excel-based templates/automation and Paylocity report packets) to support Finance/HR leaders; continuously improve data accuracy and timeliness.
- Own Paylocity Time & Labor governance (Employee Groups, Feature Access Templates, Assignments/permissions, kiosk/settings) and perform periodic audits; drive configuration changes that reduce repeat timekeeping errors.
- Serve as Paylocity HRIS system-of-record owner for payroll-adjacent needs: maintain employee data integrity for payroll/timekeeping reporting, coordinate secure employee document/file integrity within Paylocity (in partnership with HR Ops), and standardize data/reporting outputs.
- Maintain payroll SOPs, checklists, and internal controls (payroll packet) and drive continuous process improvement to reduce rework and off-cycle corrections.
- Own Paylocity vendor relationship/escalations for payroll, Time & Labor, and payroll-adjacent HRIS issues; coordinate testing/validation of fixes and changes.
- Support wage garnishments and routine verifications/unemployment requests by ensuring deductions are coded correctly and producing required wage/history documentation (vendor-supported where applicable).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- HS Diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
- 3+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing and complex issue resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to manage payroll cycles, controls, reconciliations, and problem-solving in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong proficiency with Excel and payroll reporting exports (audit/tie-out comfort required).
- Ability to handle confidential information with a high degree of discretion and sound judgment.
- Paylocity experience preferred.
- Experience supporting multi-entity payroll environments and partnering with Finance on payroll allocations/tie-outs.
- Strong payroll controls mindset (audit discipline, documentation, repeat-issue prevention).
- Excellent problem-solving and independent judgment on complex payroll scenarios.
- Strong stakeholder management skills (ability to drive approvals/corrections with site leaders).
- Clear written and verbal communication; able to explain payroll outcomes and corrections succinctly.
