Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Bread Baker / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This role focuses on producing high-quality, from-scratch breads while also supporting light line cooking during service. The ideal candidate has a passion for fermentation, attention to detail, and the ability to balance production baking with kitchen support. Weekends required.

Key Responsibilities: 

Bread Production: 

  • Prepare and bake a variety of breads, including focaccia, sourdough loaves, sourdough rolls, sourdough crackers, and brioche  
  • Maintain and manage sourdough starter and fermentation processes  
  • Mix, scale, shape, and proof doughs according to recipes and standards  
  • Monitor baking times, temperatures, and product quality  
  • Ensure consistency in flavor, texture, and appearance  

Prep & Kitchen Support: 

  • Assist with light line cooking and prepare meals to order as needed  
  • Support kitchen prep tasks to ensure smooth service  
  • Follow recipes and portioning standards  

Organization & Cleanliness: 

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout shift  
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment, tools, and surfaces after use  
  • Assist with daily and weekly cleaning tasks  
  • Properly store, label, and rotate ingredients (FIFO)  

General Responsibilities: 

  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines  
  • Communicate effectively with team members  
  • Manage time efficiently to balance baking production and service needs  
  • Assist with inventory awareness and prep planning  

Compensation: 

  • Hourly pay ranges from $13 - $17, based on experience and performance  
  • Pooled tips distributed among staff, adding to overall earnings  
  • Opportunities for raises based on reliability, skill development, and performance 
Requirements

 

  • Previous baking experience preferred, especially with sourdough or artisan breads  (not required)
  • Basic kitchen or line cook experience preferred  
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency  
  • Ability to follow recipes and fermentation timelines  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team  
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs  

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience with naturally leavened doughs  
  • Understanding of fermentation and proofing techniques  
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced kitchen environment  
  • Strong organizational and time management skills 

Physical Requirements

This Baker position is a physically demanding position. The employee with be on their feet for most of the shift and are expected to left heavy objects.
