Job Overview


We are seeking a Project Accountant to join our Orange County team. In this full-time, exempt role, you will serve as the primary financial liaison between the accounting department and project management. You will analyze project costs, ensure fiscal accuracy, and manage the full financial lifecycle of assigned construction projects including billing execution and complex client inquiries. 


Responsibilities 

  • Financial Liaison: Interact directly with customer project accounting personnel and internal management at all project stages to ensure financial alignment and resolve billing inquiries.
  • Billing & Receivables: Prepare comprehensive customer billings and documentation according to client specifications; verify chargeable time and proactively manage outstanding balances. 
  • Reporting & Compliance: Perform month-end and annual duties, including account reconciliations, verify Certified Payroll reporting, and high-level oversight of OCIP/CCIP insurance programs.
  • Subcontract Financial Management: Audit subcontract invoices for payment and collaborate with compliance staff to monitor subcontractor adherence to organizational and project standards.
  • Project Lifecycles: Set up new projects within the accounting system and maintain/oversee administrative and compliance reporting for all projects until close out. 
  • General Ledger Support: Assist with general ledger functions by accurately inputting job cost journal entries and managing inter-company financial transfers.
  • Budget & Cost Analysis: Input and review project budgets and completion percentages in job-cost reports to ensure financial data remains reasonable and accurate.

Requirements

  

Required Education and Experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of four years of progressive experience in project accounting within the construction industry.
  • At least two years of accounts payable experience and accounts receivable collection experience.
  • At least two years of union payroll exposure.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle high-level client interactions professionally.

Preferred Education and Experience 

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Software: Proficiency in Spectrum or Viewpoint is highly preferred. 
  • Technical Familiarity: Experience with Sage, Procore, Textura, LCP Tracker, DIR, Procure, GC Pay, or insurance platforms (AON/Alliant).

Salary Description
$100,000 - $115,000/yearly
