Job Summary:

The North Star Health RN Clinical Lead/Educator provides clinical support, education, and guidance across all sites in partnership with the Director of Nursing.  

The North Star Health RN Clinical Lead/Educator will provide dedicated support of the Dolores Mobile Unit.

This role serves as an experienced clinical resource to support staff, reinforce best practices, and promote consistency in workflows and patient care. The RN Clinical Lead/Educator works closely with site-based preceptors and care teams to support onboarding, competency validation, and day-to-day clinical operations.

A primary focus of this role is to help develop and sustain a strong preceptor model across all sites, ensuring that each location has the internal capability to effectively onboard and support new staff.  

In addition to preceptor support, the RN Clinical Lead/Educator provides hands-on education, clinical support, and workflow reinforcement as needed in partnership with the Director of Nursing. 

This role is not intended to serve as routine staffing coverage, but may provide clinical support as needed to maintain safe patient care, support onboarding, and assist during high-need situations.



Duties and Responsibilities:

The major duties which are regularly performed and normally assigned to the position:

  • Supports the development and consistency of preceptor practice across all clinic sites, through coaching and support to ensure effective onboarding experiences.
  • Reinforces expectations for onboarding, training, and competency validation
  • Supports onboarding of new staff in collaboration with site-based preceptors and the Director of Nursing
  • Performs competency validation and skills sign-offs as needed
  • Provides direct education and training to clinical staff to reinforce workflows, skills and best practices
  • Performs direct patient care within RN scope of practice, including triage, assessment, and clinical interventions
  • Assists providers with patient care, procedures, and coordination
  • Administers medication and vaccines in accordance with policy
  • Supports care coordination, including follow-up and closing care gaps
  • Reinforces standardized workflows and clinical practices across sites
  • Identifies workflow challenges and collaborates with leadership on solutions
  • Provides real-time support to care teams during operational or clinical challenges
  • Supports implementation and stabilization of new workflows and processes
  • Serves as primary RN support for the Dolores Mobile Unit (once weekly or as needed)
  • Supports mobile unit workflow consistency and patient care coordination
  • Supports clinical readiness through staff education, including emergency response training, drills, and reinforcement of best practices for acute events in the clinical setting
  • Reinforces adherence to clinical policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation
  • Ensures patient safety remains a top priority
  • Demonstrates flexibility in work schedule and location based on organizational needs
  • Provides input for staff development and performance as appropriate
  • Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members
  •  All other duties as assigned


Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associates Degree in Nursing required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in primary care or ambulatory care setting preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in staff training, onboarding, or precepting strongly preferred
  • Experience working with medical assistants, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Proven ability to support and reinforce clinical workflows and best practices
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites and adapt to varying team dynamics
  • Experience supporting quality improvement, workflow implementation, or practice standardization preferred.

Other Requirement(s):

  • VT and NH RN license or Multistate license

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Strong clinical judgment with the ability to problem-solve and adapt in dynamic clinical environments
  • Ability to support and guide staff in real-time, reinforcing best practices and clinical workflows
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites and adapt to varying team dynamics
  • Ability to support training and skill development of clinical staff in both formal and informal settings
  • Ability to respond effectively in urgent or emergent clinical situations
  • Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when handling sensitive information  
  • Proficiency in documentation, communication, and use of clinical technology systems.
