Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant will work under the supervision of physicians to provide high-quality care to patients with allergies and asthma. The MA will be responsible for patient assessment, administering allergy tests, providing patient education, and assisting with clinical procedures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in patient intake and assessment, recording medical history and symptoms.
  • Administer allergy skin tests and pulmonary function tests.
  • Prepare and administer allergy immunotherapy injections.
  • Educate patients on allergy management, treatment plans, and medication usage.
  • Assist physicians with clinical procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions to treatments and medications.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized clinic environment.
  • Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
  • Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
  • Prepares patient charts a week in advance.
  • Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
  • Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
  • Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
  • Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
  • Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
  • Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
  • Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
  • Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
  • Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
  • Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
  • Performs related duties as required.

Requirements
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
  • Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant in an Allergy or Asthma clinic setting
  • Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
