Description
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering employee benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k). This role ensures accurate enrollments, compliance with applicable laws, and clear communication to support a positive employee experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Ensures accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with correct eligibility information.
- Assists with new hire orientation and benefits education.
- Assists employees with benefit claim issues and plan changes.
- Distributes enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
- Enroll and answer any questions related to 401K.
- Processes and administers all leave absence requests, including medical, personal, disability, and FMLA.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws related to benefits and leave administration (e.g., FMLA, ADA).
- Interprets FMLA and ADA regulations as they relate to employee leaves and accommodations.
- Assists with the annual open enrollment process.
- Provides reports for benefit billing and allocation.
- Perform regular audits and quality checks of benefits-related data.
- Provides translation support for onboarding and new hire training.
- Additional duties as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, required.
- At least two years of experience in HR and/or benefits administration.
- Working knowledge of employee benefits applicable laws.
- Strong communication and customer service skills to support a diverse workforce.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Experience with Paylocity and benefits administration systems.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Works in both a professional office environment and a manufacturing/production floor environment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the facility.
- Regular interaction with production employees and operations personnel on the manufacturing floor.
- May be exposed to varying temperatures, moderate noise levels, dust, moving machinery, and forklift traffic while on the production floor.
- Must follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering production areas.
- Occasional bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting of office materials or supplies up to 20 pounds.
- May require occasional flexibility in schedule based on business or production needs.
