The Assistant Kitchen Manager will support the Restaurant Kitchen Manager in overseeing kitchen operations within a single restaurant location, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency. This role is integral in managing kitchen staff, inventory, and food safety, supporting the restaurant’s continued growth and success. 

Requirements

  • Schedule, coordinate, and appoint activities to kitchen staff. 
  • Supervise food preparation and cooking to maintain consistency and efficiency. 
  • Ensure accountability of kitchen staff. 
  • Identify staffing needs, recruit, and recommend candidates for hiring. 
  • Coach and develop crew members, fostering skill growth and teamwork. 
  • Implement and uphold kitchen safety protocols to create a secure working environment. 
  • Monitor ingredient inventory levels to ensure proper stock and minimize waste. 
  • Oversee kitchen sanitation and enforce health and safety guidelines. 
  • Conducts Food & Safety audits. 
  • Conduct regular line checks to maintain consistency and quality in food preparation. 
  • Monitor ticket times throughout each shift to optimize food service speed. 
  • Conduct inventory checks and manage stock levels efficiently to ensure proper stock and minimize waste. 
  • Oversee food preparation to ensure recipe quality and accuracy. 
  • Ensure consistency in food preparation and presentation. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 

  • Proven experience in a kitchen role. 
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety standards. 
  • Ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff. 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. 
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory and compliance processes. 
  • Experience in a high-volume restaurant setting. 
  • Familiarity with inventory management software. 
  • Requires standing for extended periods of up to 8-10 hours. 
  • May involve lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
