Safety Coordinator (EHS)

ABEC | Build a Safer Future in Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing

Why This Role Matters (for WIL)

At ABEC, safety isn’t just compliance—it’s culture. We’re looking for a hands-on Safety Coordinator who will take ownership of our site safety program, drive continuous improvement, and ensure every employee goes home safe.

This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact at a brand-new manufacturing facility backed by an established, industry-leading manufacturer. Rather than stepping into an existing program, you'll help shape the site's safety culture from the ground up while leveraging the resources, stability, and best practices of a proven organization.

This is a high-impact, highly visible role where you'll partner across the organization to uphold OSHA standards, maintain our SHARP status, and elevate safety performance at every level. You will play a critical role in establishing the foundation for a safe, engaged, and high-performing workforce as the facility continues to grow.

What You’ll Do

Lead & Elevate Safety Performance

  • Own and manage the site-wide safety program
  • Drive OSHA 1910 compliance and best practices
  • Maintain ABEC’s SHARP certification standards
  • Identify risks early and implement proactive solutions

Be a Visible Safety Leader

  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and walkthroughs
  • Partner with production, engineering, and leadership teams
  • Promote a strong safety culture through coaching and accountability

Investigate & Improve

  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Use data and metrics to continuously improve safety outcomes

Train & Influence

  • Deliver OSHA training, toolbox talks, and safety stand-downs
  • Ensure all employees understand and follow safe work practices
  • Support onboarding and ongoing safety education

Drive Continuous Improvement

  • Align safety initiatives with Lean / CI strategies
  • Remove barriers to safe, efficient production
  • Recommend improvements without slowing operations

What You Bring

  • Associate’s degree required (Bachelor’s preferred)
  • 2+ years managing or supporting a safety program
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations (1910)
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels
  • Ability to influence, coach, and hold teams accountable
  • Organized, proactive, and solutions-driven

Bonus Points For

  • Lean / Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement experience
  • SHARP or safety certification exposure
  • Experience in regulated environments

What You’ll Be Doing Day-to-Day

  • Walking the floor, identifying risks, and solving problems in real time
  • Ensuring proper use of PPE and safe work practices
  • Leading safety meetings and engaging teams
  • Maintaining compliance documentation and audit readiness
  • Partnering with leaders to continuously raise the safety bar

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working in PPE (safety shoes, eye/hearing protection, etc.)

Travel

  • Occasional travel to other ABEC locations

What Success Looks Like

  • Zero incidents mindset with measurable safety improvements
  • Strong employee engagement in safety programs
  • Full OSHA compliance and audit readiness
  • A proactive, not reactive, safety culture

If you’re passionate about safety, thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and want to make a real impact - this role is for you.
