Finisher
Description

Work on a single or combination of finishing processes including deburring, grinding, polishing, buffing and straightening to finish parts using machines, hand tools or hand-held power tools, for a variety of metals. Responsible to grind, straighten, polish, buff and/or debur metal cast pieces while maintaining a high accuracy of shape and dimension. Tools used may include, but are not limited to, hydraulic press, micrometers, hammer, cutting tools, polishing wheels, and grinders according to blueprint specification under the direct supervision of the Production Supervisor. 

Requirements

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  


  • Read work orders, routers, or production schedules to determine part specifications such as type and number of parts to be finished using appropriate process, machine or equipment. 


  • Finish parts to completely remove imperfections according to specifications as detailed through written instructions, blueprints or diagrams. 


  • Responsible for proper safety, set-up and maintenance of tools and machinery as necessary to effectively and efficiently complete the finishing process. 


  • Inspect or measure finished work pieces to determine conformance to specifications like size and shape of part, using measuring instruments such as gauges, micrometers, indicators on template. 


  • Complete assigned work in the allotted time to maintain satisfactory production levels while conforming to safety and quality standards. 


  • Report problems or concerns with safety, quality, process, equipment or material to Supervisor. 


  • Track and record the correct number and types of parts completed in the ERP system to produce accurate data and achieve production targets. 


  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) as instructed by the supervisor. 


  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including all tools and machinery.      


  • Perform other duties as assigned.  



Education and Experience Requirements/Preferences:  

 


  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 


  • At least two years’ metal finishing skill, knowledge, or experience preferred.
