Regional Driver
Join our growing logistics team in Savannah, GA!
Summary: Safely operates commercial tractor-trailers to transport and deliver glass sheets and hardware products to customers across regional routes. This position requires driving between 2,200 and 2,500 miles per week, with approximately 1 to 2 overnight stays in the truck per week, ensuring safe handling, timely deliveries, and excellent customer service.
Salary & Compensation:
- Estimated Weekly Earnings: $1,500 – $1,800 / week.
- Pay Structure: $0.65 per mile + $25 per stop.
- Weekly Mileage: Average of 2,200 to 2,700 miles per week.
- Retention Bonus: $2,000 retention bonus paid upon completing 90 days of continuous employment with the company.
- Internal Referral Bonus: Employee referral bonus available for internal staff who refer hired candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drives tractor-trailers to safely deliver glass sheets, cases, or hardware to customer job sites and places of business.
- Conducts daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in optimal working condition.
- Properly loads, straps, and secures glass cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintains accurate logbooks of working hours, vehicle service, and deliveries in full compliance with state and federal DOT regulations.
- Obtains customer signatures on packing lists/delivery receipts and collects checks or payments when required.
- Picks up empty glass racks, containers, or authorized returned merchandise.
- Listens to and helps resolve customer delivery concerns promptly and professionally.
- Keeps the interior and exterior of the truck clean and well-maintained.
- Performs other logistics and operational duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- License: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class A).
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Physical Capability: Physically able to lift up to 70 lbs or more and perform manual loading/unloading tasks.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proven understanding and experience in handling fragile products (glass) safely.
- Strict compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent time management, punctuality, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-service focus.
- Commitment to proper uniform usage and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Schedule & Working Conditions:
- Start Time: Early morning dispatch (4:00 AM, 5:00 AM, or 6:00 AM).
- Overnight Stays: Requires sleeping in the truck 1 to 2 nights per week depending on assigned regional routes.
