The Operations Manager – Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is responsible for overseeing daily operations supporting the Department of Labor (DOL) Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) program. This role ensures the seamless execution of electronic records, data processing, workflow coordination, and operational support activities across multiple teams in a fast-paced federal contracting environment.
The Operations Manager – Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) serves as the primary operational liaison between contractor leadership and Government stakeholders, ensuring production goals, quality standards, service level expectations, and contractual requirements are consistently achieved. This position plays a critical role in workforce management, operational reporting, quality assurance, process improvement, and employee development while maintaining efficient and compliant operations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on operations leader with experience managing high-volume workflows, supervising teams,
analyzing productivity metrics, and supporting federal or regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison between contractor personnel and Government leadership regarding daily operational activities, workflow status, escalations, and performance metrics.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and Government stakeholders to ensure compliance with contract requirements, operational objectives, and service delivery expectations.
- Supervise daily operations supporting electronic data interchange (EDI), records processing, administrative operations, and workflow management activities.
- Assign, prioritize, and balance workloads across supervisors and operational teams to ensure production targets and deadlines are met.
- Monitor team productivity, operational metrics, quality standards, and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Analyze reports and operational trends to identify workflow bottlenecks, staffing needs, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Oversee quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency in work products.
- Support onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management initiatives for supervisors and staff.
- Ensure teams adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), security requirements, and Government regulations.
- Lead operational meetings and provide status updates, reporting, and recommendations to leadership.
- Resolve workflow issues, staffing challenges, and operational concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused, and high-performing team environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and customer service delivery.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a supervisory, team lead, or operations management role.
- Experience overseeing high-volume data processing, administrative operations, records management, customer support, or workflow coordination activities preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience monitoring productivity metrics, generating reports, and managing operational performance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) and reporting tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees, management, and Government personnel.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and operational accuracy in a federal contracting environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting a federal government contract preferred.
- Experience in electronic records, data interchange (EDI), claims processing, document management, or administrative operations environments is highly desirable.
- Experience with workforce scheduling, quality assurance, and performance reporting preferred.
- Familiarity with process improvement and workflow optimization methodologies is a plus.
Work Location
- This position is hybrid onsite in Chicago, IL after the successful completion of training activities.
