Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Employment Attorney to join our dynamic Legal Team, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer. The successful candidate will have expertise in advising companies on federal and state employment laws, litigation and mediation experience, and drafting of employment related agreements, policies and handbooks.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities
• Provide legal advice and representation to the Company on employment law issues.
• Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, policies, and handbooks.
• Advise the Company on compliance with state and federal employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, and FLSA.
• Represent the Company in administrative hearings and court proceedings.
• Conduct HR due diligence for potential acquisitions.
• Conduct investigations into allegations of workplace misconduct and make recommendations for resolution.
Experience and Education
• Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.
• Member in good standing of the Ohio Bar or ability to become a member of the Ohio Bar within a reasonable period.
• 5-7 years of employment law experience in a law firm or as in-house counsel.
• Expertise with state and federal labor laws.
• Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to manage multiple issues, cases and deadlines simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to develop and implement effective procedures and improvements.
• Ability to meet deadlines and report progress or concerns to the CLO in a timely manner.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently as well as in teams, sound legal judgment and strong work ethic required.
• Some travel required for the position.
• Safety and OSHA experience a plus.
