POSITION SUMMARY 


The Custodian/Janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and order throughout assigned areas of the facility. The Custodian/Janitor ensures a clean and safe environment for all staff, visitors, and customers by performing a variety of custodial tasks including cleaning, waste disposal, and light maintenance. 


JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

· Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize various areas

· Clean and sanitize restrooms, breakrooms, offices and common areas. 

· Ensuring that all pertinent areas and supplies are adequately stocked such as restroom, cleaning supplies, supply closet, soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. 

· Collect and dispose of trash and recycling bins accordingly

· Clan interior glass, windows, walls, doors and light fixtures

· Report and address minor maintenance issues, such as leaky faucets, burned-out light bulbs, or damaged furniture.

· Coordinate with the maintenance department for more significant repairs.

· Safely operate and maintain cleaning equipment, such as floor buffers and power washers.

· Conduct routine security checks to ensure you lock all doors and windows after cleaning.

· Monitor and manage cleaning supplies and request replenishment as needed.

· Adhere to safety protocols, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Respond promptly to spills or accidents to ensure employee and guest safety.  

· Assis with setup and teardown of rooms for meetings or events (e.g., moving tables, chairs and equipment).

· Operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and buffers as needed. 


Education & Experience:  

· High School diploma or equivalent 


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Prior custodial, janitorial or housekeeping experience 

· English and Spanish language skills

· Basic knowledge of cleaning practices, and safety procedures 

· Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team


Working Conditions / Environment / Special Requirements

  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, FAA, DOT, and State and Federal regulations.
  • Ability to work in varied types of environments including office spaces, restrooms, warehouses and outdoor areas.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required.

Requirements

 

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods

· Frequently required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb ladders/step stools

· Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds

· Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, and arms (e.g., wiping/scrubbing).

· Tolerance to cleaning chemical exposure

· Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor settings and in varying temperatures

· Must be able to wear protective gear as required or needed (e.g. gloves, mask, safety glasses, etc.).
