Position Overview:

Bayside Church is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Director to join our mission-driven team. This dual role is vital to maintaining the financial integrity of our organization by ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting our general accounting operations. The ideal candidate brings both technical payroll expertise and nonprofit accounting knowledge, along with a passion for serving communities and advancing social impact.


Key Responsibilities:

Income & Contributions

  • Oversee the recording and reconciliation of all incoming funds, including tithes, offerings, donations, and event income 
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of contributions to donor records 
  • Monitor and reconcile bank deposits and electronic giving platforms 
  • Maintain strong internal controls over cash handling and contribution processing 
  • Generate periodic giving statements for members and donors 
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts related to income 
  • Assist with audits and provide documentation as needed 
  • Supervise accounting staff and/or volunteers involved in financial processes 
  • Develop and maintain efficient accounting procedures and internal controls 
  • Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and transparency

Accounts Receivable

  • Supervise invoicing and collections for facility rentals, program fees, and other receivables 
  • Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue accounts 
  • Maintain accurate receivable reports 
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts related to receivables 
  • Ensure proper documentation and reconciliation of all receivable transactions 

Payroll Administration

  • Oversee payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations 
  • Manage payroll records, including salaries, benefits, and tax withholdings 
  • Coordinate with HR on employee status changes, compensation updates, and benefits deductions 
  • Review process changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, benefits, tax adjustments), and coordinate with HR as needed
  • Record payroll-related journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts monthly

  • Maintain consistent, transparent, and professional communication with supervisors and staff.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years+ of experience in payroll and accounting roles, preferably in the nonprofit sector
  • Knowledge of Federal and State payroll laws, multi-state payroll, and nonprofit accounting standards (e.g., fund accounting)
  • Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., Paylocity) and accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, Oracle NetSuite)
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
