AI Engineer Job Summary
Kaspar Companies is seeking a full-time AI Engineer to lead and develop our AI-driven initiatives. Based in Shiner, TX, this role is responsible for training AI models, building, deploying, and implementing AI solutions, and enhancing manufacturing processes through innovative technologies. This position requires a tech-savvy individual with a blend of AI workflow experience, problem-solving capabilities, and a collaborative mindset.
AI Engineer Responsibilities
· Design, build, and deploy AI-powered tools that solve specific operational problems across Kaspar subsidiaries, from scoping through rollout and support.
· Integrate AI systems with company data sources and platforms, including Syteline ERP, Microsoft 365, and internal applications, so tools work against live business data rather than static inputs.
· Automate manual, repetitive workflows such as reporting, data consolidation, monitoring, and vendor or customer follow-up.
· Develop prompts, agent workflows, and system instructions, then test and refine them against real scenarios until outputs are accurate, consistent, and reliable enough to trust in production.
· Translate between operational needs and technical capability, and set honest expectations about what AI can and cannot do for a given process.
· Write statements of work and project plans, then deliver against them.
· Create documentation, job aids, and reference material that let teams operate and troubleshoot solutions without depending on the AI team for every question.
· Track usage and adoption, follow up with teams that have stalled, and capture wins so they spread across subsidiaries.
· Monitor deployed solutions for accuracy, uptime, cost, and business impact; diagnose failures and improve them.
· Apply data security, access, and acceptable-use standards to every AI tool touching company or customer information.
· Evaluate new models, platforms, and capabilities as they emerge, and recommend where they fit.
· All other duties as assigned by management.
AI Engineer Skills and Competencies
Required
· Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with a bias toward shipping something usable and improving it rather than waiting for a perfect solution.
· Hands-on comfort with data: spreadsheets, queries, APIs, and structured data from business systems.
· Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical work to operators, plant leadership, and executives in language each group uses.
· Ability to manage multiple projects across subsidiaries with limited direction.
· Genuine curiosity about how work gets done on the floor and in the office, and willingness to go see it firsthand.
Preferred
· Experience with LLM platforms, prompt engineering, agent frameworks, or MCP-based integrations.
· Scripting or development experience (Python, JavaScript, SQL, Power Platform, or similar).
· Familiarity with ERP systems, ideally Syteline.
· Background in lean or continuous improvement, or experience working alongside a CI function.
AI Engineer Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
· IT experience in business process transformation preferred.
· Intermediate knowledge of manufacturing operations.
Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a dynamic environment
