Description

University Physicians’ Association is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate part-time Phone Triage Medical Assistant to join our Endocrinology for Kids team in Maryville, TN. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong clinical judgment, and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care.


The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting both patients and providers by ensuring timely communication, accurate documentation, and a seamless care experience. Strong familiarity with electronic medical records, patient assessment, and clinical protocols is essential.


Job Type:  Part-Time with Benefits 
  • Alternating bi-weekly schedule (40 hours per pay period)
  • Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (8:00am to 4:30pm)
  • Week 2: Wednesday and Thursday (8:00am to 4:30pm) 

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Answering patient calls and assessing medical needs
  • Accurately documenting symptoms, medical history, and concerns
  • Providing patient instructions based on clinical protocols
  • Assisting with scheduling appointments and coordinating care
  • Managing prior authorizations and obtaining pre-certifications for imaging (MRI, CT scans)
  • Communicating test results in a timely and professional manner
  • Processing prescription refill requests in compliance with established guidelines

Requirements
  •  Medical Assistant Certification is preferred. 
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, time management, and organization are critical to the overall success of the candidate.
  • Minimum of 1-year previous medical experience.
