General Summary:
The Lead Residential HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and leading service operations for residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role combines advanced technical expertise with team leadership, customer service, and operational support to ensure high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Principal Accountabilities:
Technical Service & Repair
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and indoor air quality equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and system inspections
- Install replacement parts and components efficiently and accurately
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal codes and safety standards
Leadership & Team Support
- Lead, mentor, and support junior technicians and apprentices in the field
- Provide on-the-job training to improve skill development and performance
- Assist in scheduling and dispatch coordination as needed
- Promote best practices, safety standards, and company procedures
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a professional and respectful approach
- Clearly explain system issues, repair options, and pricing to homeowners
- Offer recommendations for system improvements, upgrades, or replacements
- Build long-term customer relationships and trust
- Operations & Quality Assurance
- Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and documentation
- Ensure jobs are completed efficiently and meet company quality standards
- Support inventory tracking and proper use of tools and materials
- Assist management with performance feedback and process improvement
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Experience: At least 5 years of residential HVAC service experience
- Certifications: EPA Certification (Universal preferred)
- Ability to lift equipment and work in various environmental conditions
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, leadership and team development
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Advanced HVAC system knowledge (gas, electric, heat pump systems)
Description of physical working environment:
- Primarily office-based, with occasional travel to field locations or corporate meetings.
- May require lifting of supply boxes or materials up to 30 lbs.
