Job Duties
Patient Care
- Provide compassionate care within CNA scope of practice, following state and federal regulations.
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Deliver daily care, including bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, and linen changes.
- Support mobility and comfort through positioning, lifting, and ambulation.
- Prepare patients for meals, assist with feeding, and distribute snacks and fluids.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Obtain and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, blood pressure, intake/output).
- Observe and report changes in physical or mental condition to supervising nurse.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and anticipate needs.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and support a culture of safety.
- Perform all care in a manner that minimizes risk and prevents errors.
- Attend required in-service education and department meetings.
Communication & Documentation
- Communicate clearly with nurses, management, and medical staff.
- Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Treat patients and families with respect and dignity.
Team Support
- Answer telephones professionally and assist with unit operations.
- Demonstrate flexibility and organization under stressful situations.
- Perform other duties as needed to support patient care and team success.
Abilities & Skills
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and all regulations.
- Adaptable and open to improvements that enhance patient care and facility operations.
- Knowledge of safety, infection control, and departmental policies.
- Basic computer skills for electronic documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Physical Requirements
- Hearing and speaking ability sufficient for patient interaction and telephone communication.
- Visual acuity for patient assessment and reading medical information.
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs unassisted; regular bending, reaching, standing, and walking.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities without compromising patient care.
Experience & Education
- Completion of a state-approved CNA training program.
- Active Wyoming CNA certification.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
