Description

Full-Time (40 hours per week - Days)


Performs Nuclear Medicine procedures in accordance with established policies and regulations,  organizes work activities.   Has ability to explain Nuclear Medicine procedures to patient, family  members, and any visitors. Assists physicians in the care, diagnosis, and management of all  patients, and maintains equipment.    


Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list):

 a. Verifies patient identification and physician’s orders prior to performing any  procedures. 

b. Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals (radioactive drugs) to  patients. 

c. Acquires NM images using correct technical factors.  Evaluates quality of images. 

d. Accurately prepares patient’s study for interpretation by the interpreting  physician (including presentation of any pertinent medical history).  

e. Uses PACS system properly; images are sent and patient information is correctly  entered into the system.  Troubleshoots equipment and communicates needed  information to the Director.  

f. Properly disposes of radioactive waste, keeping inventory and control of  radiopharmaceuticals, and following safety regulations to limit radiation exposure according to the standards set by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory  Commission. 

Requirements

 Education/Qualification/Experience 

a.  CPR certification (ACLS preferred) 

b. High school graduate or equivalent, plus graduate from an approved Nuclear  Medicine program. The employee must be registered by either the American  Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the Nuclear Medicine Technology  Certification Board.  

c. Maintains licensure/certification through continuing education 

Physical Demands 

• The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  Occasionally required to sit,  climb, stoop, kneel or crouch. 

• Reaching – all levels. 

• Repetitive finger/hand movements. 

• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs and be able to push and  move wheelchairs, stretchers or patients weighing greater than 250lbs. 

Salary Description
$38.00-$43.00 per hour
