Senior Structural Engineer
Hybrid Remote
Description

 RLC is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join the growing civil and structural engineering team. This position will entail work on a variety of electric power delivery, renewable generation, and energy storage projects. This individual must be self-motivated and eager to work within a multi-disciplinary team. In-office, hybrid, and remote working arrangements will be considered.


Essential Functions of Position:

  1. Prepare plans and specifications for structures and foundations in electric substations, transmission lines, BESS plants, and wind/solar generation plants.
  2. Prepare design criteria, calculations, reports, and other documents.
  3. Perform peer review (i.e. checking) of work by other staff.
  4. Serve as lead structural engineer on project teams and as engineer-of-record.
  5. Collaborate with other design disciplines.
  6. Attend client meetings and project site visits.
  7. Prepare proposals and engineering estimates.

Other Functions of Position:

  1. Assist project management team on schedule, budget, quality, and other items.
  2. Train and mentor junior staff members.
  3. Develop internal design tools, templates, procedures, and other aids.
Requirements
  1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited school. A Master’s Degree in structures is preferred.
  2. Seven to ten years, or more, of experience in structural design practice.
  3. Licensed professional engineer willing to obtain licenses in other states as required.
  4. Knowledgeable in structural analysis, design of structural steel systems, and design of foundations.
  5. Computer skills in the use of AutoCAD, Excel, Mathcad, RISA suite (or other finite element software), and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate within the organization and outside with clients.
  7. New England-based location.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
