Position Summary

The Community Relations Supervisor is a dynamic, advocate-driven role responsible for serving as a dedicated champion for the senior community on behalf of High Desert PACE. Guided and driven by the Community Relations Committee, this individual serves as the primary liaison for community communications, focusing heavily on advocacy, grassroots relationship-building, and localized partnership development. The ideal candidate is a natural relationship builder, a strategic communicator, and a passionate advocate who will be instrumental in establishing strong alliances with community partners and enhancing our localized public presence.


Requirements

The Community Relations Committee will actively guide and drive the direction for this role in all community relations and partnerships. Core responsibilities include:


Community Engagement & Partnership Advocacy

  • Proactively identify, establish, and nurture relationships with key community partners, including healthcare providers, senior centers, local businesses, and non-profit organizations.
  • Represent High Desert PACE as a primary advocate at community events, such as Chamber of Commerce meetings, healthcare fairs, Rotary Club gatherings, and other networking functions to increase organizational visibility and build beneficial partnerships.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for community inquiries, advocacy initiatives, and localized collaborations.

Event Strategy & Management

  • Identify a variety of different community-based events and opportunities strategically aligned and/or beneficial to High Desert PACE.
  • Critically evaluate and determine the appropriateness of each event before committing organizational resources.
  • Initiate and coordinate a determined number of events per quarter that are beneficial to High Desert PACE and the organization's overall mission and initiatives.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate evening, weekend, and holiday commitments as determined by the specific community event schedule.

Cross-Functional & Internal Collaboration

  • Work seamlessly and actively with the Business Development, Provider Relations, Operations, Clinical, and Day Center departments to ensure unified organizational alignment.
  • Support enrollment events and initiatives with targeted communication and promotional strategies when appropriate and necessary.
  • Provide regular updates on community relations activities, outreach metrics, and partnership outcomes to the Community Relations Committee and the broader leadership team.

Skills & Abilities

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 2–4 years of professional experience in community relations, advocacy, or community outreach.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to craft compelling, empathetic messages for diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to network, advocate, collaborate across internal departments, and build lasting professional relationships.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple outreach projects and quarterly events simultaneously with guidance from the committee.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel frequently to events throughout the High Desert region.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in the healthcare, non-profit, or senior services sector.
  • Deep familiarity with the High Desert community, its key stakeholders, and local senior advocacy resources.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid Work Environment: This is a hybrid position that combines remote work, in-office collaboration, and significant field responsibilities.
  • Field Responsibilities: A substantial portion of this role requires being actively present in the community. This includes frequent local travel throughout the High Desert region to attend meetings, events, and build partnerships.
  • Flexible Schedule: This position requires a flexible schedule, with the ability to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate community events.
  • Physical Demands: The role involves a mix of sedentary work using a computer and active engagement at events, which may require standing for extended periods, walking, and light lifting (e.g., promotional materials, event displays).
  • Travel: A valid California driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation are required.
Salary Description
Annual Salary $70,000/year - $80,000/year
