Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Summary

The Service Porter is responsible for the movement of dealer inventory and customer vehicles. Porters may move vehicles from dealer service drives to repair bays and work with the dealer's detailing department to prepare vehicles that are traded in or received from auto manufacturers. Porters are also responsible for providing clean cars to customers after the cars have been serviced. Porters must be ready to move any vehicle upon assignment and should be able to drive manual as well as automatic transmission vehicles. An auto porter might have to drive an inventory vehicle to another location and bring one back in return, as well as act as a general purpose shuttle driver.

Additional Responsibilities of Job

  • Provides assistance to the Service Department including advisors, manager, and foreman.
  • Maintain appearance of the service drive area.
  • Promote and maintain customer satisfaction. 

TASKS

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB - Employees must perform the following 

Daily

  • Park and retrieve vehicles for customers upon delivery and drop-off.
  • Safely deliver customer vehicle to customer after cashiering, from storage stall to service drive.
  • Provide routine maintenance and cleaning of service work areas and restrooms; as scheduled.
  • Additional Responsibilities of Job
  • Attend all scheduled meetings.
  • Know, understand and follow all federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to the job; such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or requested.

 

Requirements

Our Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Ability to retrieve, load and deliver items of various sizes and weights (up to 75 lbs) in operable and undamaged condition.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish, including reading and writing and comprehending instructions.
  • Possess good customer relations abilities, polite and courteous manner, cooperative attitude, team oriented.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Maintain a valid drivers license, ability to drive a variety of vehicle types, insurable. 
  • Well groomed and neat appearance.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Service Porter will perform physically demanding work throughout his or her shift. He or she will stand six to eight or more hours per day and may lift equipment weighing from 10 to 75 lbs. He or she may be exposed to dust, exhaust fumes and a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The driving of vehicles is required. Evening, holiday and weekend work hours may be required.
