About Ryan Lawn & Tree
Did you know that Ryan Lawn & Tree is a $100M+ professional Lawn & Landscape company? We've built one of the most respected lawn and tree care companies in the Midwest — and serve customers across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. We're on a mission to raise the bar for our entire industry — attracting exceptional people, treating them right, and doing work that leaves a mark on every community we touch.
What We Are Looking For
Maintenance Department Manager – This is a rare kind of leadership opportunity — some managers run a department, but this one gets to build it.
The groundwork is laid, but the real building starts here. This is an entrepreneurial opportunity to take a department with a strong service model and grow it into something that could serve 8,000+ customers and generate $15M+ in annual revenue. If you’re energized by ownership, growth, and making your mark — this role was built for you.
About the Opportunity
The processes are being refined and built out for this market. What we need is a leader with the entrepreneurial drive to grow it from the ground up.
Services include:
- Robotic mowing programs
- Landscape plant maintenance (personal gardener-style service)
- Annual color installation and care
- Leaf removal (seasonal)
- Additional residential maintenance services as the department grows
You’ll partner closely with the VP of Innovation to continue refining processes, build out the team, and aggressively grow the customer base. In the near term, you may also assist with sales as the department establishes its full stride.
What You’ll Build & Own
- Design and refine operational processes
- Recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing team as the department scales
- Establish financial goals aligned with company strategy and manage P&L accountability
- Drive customer acquisition and retention — assist with sales in the interim as needed
- Oversee day-to-day field operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety
- Develop and maintain client relationships
- Partner with marketing, HR, and safety teams to support department growth
- Collaborate with other department managers on labor sharing and strategic initiatives
- Lead team meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations
- Monitor NPS scores and other customer satisfaction metrics; drive improvement
The Growth Story
The KC market is wide open. With Ryan Lawn & Tree’s established brand and a residential maintenance service model that works, the ceiling here is genuinely high — we’re talking 8,000+ customers and $15M+ in annual revenue. The person who steps into this role won’t just manage a department; they’ll build one. That’s a rare thing.
Who We’re Looking For
You’re equal parts operator and entrepreneur. You don’t need every answer on day one — but you know how to find them. You’re comfortable with ambiguity, energized by growth, and skilled at developing people. You hold yourself and your team accountable, but you lead with coaching first.
