Accounting Intern, East Providence RI

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to support our accounting team across multiple manufacturing sites. This internship offers hands-on experience with real-world accounting processes in a dynamic and supportive environment. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, organized, and ready to contribute to daily operations while developing foundational skills in accounting and finance. 


Responsibilities:   


General Accounting Support 

  • Assist in preparing journal entry templates and account reconciliations under supervision. 
  • Help gather and organize documentation for audits and internal reviews. 
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes with administrative and preparatory tasks. 
  • Assist with intercompany data checks and tracking for reconciliation purposes. 
  • Aid in the preparation of bank reconciliation support schedules. 
  • Help run and update internal tracking spreadsheets (e.g., TOC files) for production and quality data. 

Accounts Payable 

  • Support the processing of vendor invoices by scanning, matching purchase orders, and flagging discrepancies. 
  • Help maintain accurate and organized vendor records. 
  • Assist with credit card receipt collection, reconciliation prep, and document filing. 
  • Observe and learn the full invoice lifecycle and ERP data entry processes. 

Accounts Receivable 

  • Assist in applying customer payments and updating AR logs. 
  • Help prepare AR aging reports and flag overdue accounts for follow-up by senior staff. 

Administrative Support 

  • Greet visitors and assist with sign-in procedures in compliance with ITAR requirements. 
  • Answer and route incoming calls in a professional manner. 
  • Scan, file, and organize accounting and administrative documents. 
  • Monitor and restock office supplies as needed. 
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail. 
  • Provide general administrative support as assigned. 
Requirements

 

Criteria For Success 

  • Must be considered a U.S. Persons eligible to work in the United States 
  • Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Excel (e.g., data entry, formulas). 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from team members. 
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through on responsibilities. 

Work Environment and Physical Demands: 

  • Primarily office-based with occasional interaction with the manufacturing floor. 
  • Standard business hours with occasional extended hours during the month-end and year-end close. 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. 
  • Occasional lifting of files, accounting documents, or boxes up to 15–20 pounds. 
  • Requires ability to focus in an open office environment with normal noise levels and interruptions.
