Legal Aid of Nebraska is seeking an attorney to join our ElderAccessLine team in a flexible role serving Nebraskans statewide.


This position is an excellent opportunity for attorneys who are early in their legal careers and interested in developing their skills while making a meaningful impact. Attorneys will receive support, mentorship, and training while helping older adults across Nebraska access high-quality legal services. Position Summary


The ElderAccessLine Attorney serves as part of the Centralized Intake Unit (CIU), providing legal information, advice, and support to older Nebraskans seeking assistance.


This role combines legal analysis, client guidance, intake services, and community engagement. The attorney will work closely with colleagues across the organization to ensure clients receive high-quality legal information and services while supporting efficient statewide intake operations.


Essential Responsibilities

· Evaluate Centralized Intake Unit applications to determine eligibility and level of service

· Conduct legal research, client interviews, and fact gathering to provide legal advice and recommendations

· Educate clients regarding legal options, processes, and potential outcomes

· Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to serve clients effectively

· Assist with daily intake operations and client service delivery

· Ensure compliance with Legal Services Corporation (LSC) regulations and recordkeeping requirements

· Maintain and develop knowledge of legal issues affecting elders and low-income communities

· Support outreach and education efforts within the elder community statewide

· Build and maintain relationships with partner agencies and community organizations

· Assist in developing intake guidance materials, scripts, and documentation

· Participate in AccessLine and ElderAccessLine call support as needed

Requirements

 

Qualifications


We welcome applicants from a variety of legal backgrounds, including recent law graduates, newer attorneys, and attorneys seeking to transition into public interest work.


Required Qualifications

· Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

· Licensed and in good standing with the Nebraska State Bar, or admission imminent

· Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

· Ability to work collaboratively within a statewide team environment

· Commitment to serving low-income and older adult communities


Preferred Qualifications

· Interest in elder law, public interest law, legal aid, or client-service work

· Experience working with vulnerable or underserved communities through employment, internships, clinics, externships, volunteer work, or legal practice

· Demonstrated commitment to public service

· Bilingual language skills are a plus
