Job Title: Senior Engineer I, DevOps
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Engineer I, DevOps plays a pivotal role in building & maintaining our infrastructure, collaborating closely with software development and implementation teams, and ensuring the security and compliance of our systems. The Senior Engineer I, DevOps will be responsible for driving automation initiatives, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), implementing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, managing Software as a Service (SaaS) tools, Identity and Access Management (IAM) permission management, generating insightful reports, and enhancing our security posture.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designing, developing and maintaining infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to automate the provisioning and configuration of infrastructure components.
- Use AI tools including GitHub Copilot and Claude to accelerate infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipeline development, and code quality. Apply AI-first methodologies across the full software delivery lifecycle. Leverage AI-powered platforms to improve incident detection, triage, and response. Continuously evaluate and adopt emerging AI tools to drive efficiency and reduce operational toil.
- Writing scripts and developing automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks, increase efficiency, and reduce manual intervention in the deployment and management processes.
- Manage source code repositories using version control systems like Git and ensure code collaboration practices.
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to automate software build, test, and deployment processes using tools like Jenkins, or CircleCI.
- Working with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes to deploy and manage containerized applications.
- Setting up monitoring and logging solutions to track system performance, detect anomalies, and troubleshoot issues.
- Building dashboards and alerts to monitor system health, guiding teams on best practices for monitoring and logging.
- Leveraging cloud computing platforms such as AWS to build and manage scalable and resilient infrastructure.
- Leveraging cloud cost management tools to understand and optimize cloud spend.
- Collaborating with development, operations, and other cross-functional teams to improve overall efficiency.
- Creating and maintaining documentation for infrastructure configurations, deployment processes, and troubleshooting procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and facilitate onboarding of new team members.
- Investigating and resolving issues related to infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and application performance, and providing support to other teams when needed.
- Stay knowledgeable about various database technologies, including relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server), and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in maintaining infrastructure and working with software development teams in a collaborative environment.
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient with automation tools and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Proficient with MS Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Proficient with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, or CircleCI.
- Proficient with IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Proficient with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot and Claude to support automation, scripting, and infrastructure development.
- Experience with AI-powered platforms for CI/CD, monitoring, observability, or incident response is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI-first development practices and integrating AI tooling into DevOps workflows.
- Good understanding of security principles and experience implementing security controls.
- Proficient with cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Experience in understanding and managing cloud costs.
- Proficient with IAM solutions such as AWS IAM, or Azure Active Directory.
- Strong Experience with networking, DNS, SSL, and storage technologies.
- Strong Experience with observability/monitoring tools like Dynatrace, Elastic or SumoLogic is a plus.
- Experience creating architecture diagrams using tools like Visio, Lucidchart, or Draw.io.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Certification in relevant areas such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) is desirable.
- Knowledge of database technologies such as Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL or PostgreSQL.
