Diabetology Fellowship - Hoag Health

The Hoag Diabetology Fellowship in Newport Beach, California, is the first program of its kind in Southern California, offering immersive, hands-on training in advanced diabetes technologies, complex patient care, and innovative treatment models - all within Orange County’s leading healthcare system.

This one-year program, recognized by the American College of Diabetology, is led by Program Director David Ahn, MD, alongside a distinguished faculty known for their excellence in diabetes management, cutting-edge research, and medical education.

Program Highlights 

• Balanced outpatient and inpatient clinical experience 
• Advanced training in GCM’s, insulin pumps, and emerging therapies 
• Certification in implantable Eversense GCM procedures 
• Clinical research and quality improvement opportunities 
• Faculty mentorship 
• Personalized, career-focused training tracks: outpatient, inpatient, cardiometabolic integration, population health/QI 
• Graduates are eligible to sit for the American College of Diabetology (ACD) Board Examination 
• Graduates would be equipped not just to treat diabetes - but to lead, innovate, and elevate diabetes care.

Eligibility 

• Applicants must have completed an ACGME Accredited Internal Medicine Residency and be board eligible or certified in Internal Medicine.
• Applicants must be eligible to obtain an unrestricted California medical license prior to the beginning of fellowship training. 
• We are unable to provide visa sponsorship at this time.
