Description

Job Summary:

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, espresso beverages, and light food items in accordance with Peet’s Coffee standards while delivering exceptional guest service consistent with the hotel’s service culture. This role creates a welcoming and efficient café experience for hotel guests and visitors.


Duties/Responsibilities:

· Prepare and serve coffee, espresso, and specialty beverages following Peet’s recipes and presentation standards

· Provide prompt, friendly, and personalized service to all guests

· Accurately take orders and process transactions using the POS system

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including counters, equipment, and seating areas

· Restock products, supplies, and merchandise as needed

· Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of food and beverage items (FIFO)

· Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines

· Maintain knowledge of menu offerings and make recommendations to guests

· Assist with opening and closing duties, including cash handling and reporting

· Support hotel operations by assisting other departments when needed (especially during peak periods)

· Uphold brand standards for both Peet’s Coffee and the hotel

· Adhere to all Health Department rules and regulations and brand standards

· Must be responsible for security of guests, fellow employees and hotel assets

· Must have completed required brand training program

· Must perform any other required duties as requested by the General Manager to aid in better operation of the hotel, restaurant, lounge, and service to the guests. 

· Keep confidential the business functions of the company including, but not limited to, financial status, customer/guest information, employee issues, etc. 

· Act with the highest level of integrity in every decision


Required Skills/Abilities: 

· Strong customer service and communication skills

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively

· Basic math skills and cash handling experience

· Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, staying on your feet, climbing stairs, carrying heavyweights.

· Must be able to communicate effectively by writing, telephone and personal meeting situations. 

· Must be neat in appearance at all times. 

· Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and Holidays.

· Must be honest and work well with others. 


Education and Experience:

· Previous barista or food & beverage experience preferred


Supervisory Responsibilities:

· None.


Physical Requirements: 

· Stand/walk on feet for 8 hours and work in a restrictive space/environment. 

· Finger dexterity to type, to write, and work on a computer or micros machine. 

· Must speak in a clear, understandable voice and hear at a basic level, and understand English. 

· Must be able to bend, stretch arms overhead and lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
