Summary
In order to ensure efficient, quality healthcare services, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides high quality psychiatric patient care. Additionally, the Psych NP provides clinical leadership to other providers around services within their scope of practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follows evidenced-based practice guidelines and standards of care.
- Provides psychiatric diagnostic and medication evaluations for adults and children.
- Prescribes medications to patients, including counseling patients regarding the proper use and contraindications of medications as well as detect and diagnose adverse drug reactions.
- Works in collaboration with each patient’s Primary Care Provider to monitor treatment response.
- Arranges referrals and consultation for patients with behavioral healthcare needs beyond the scope of practice.
- Communicates and coordinates with community mental health agencies or hospitals for transfer of care if needed.
- Evaluates medical and behavioral health charts to determine appropriate patient care follow up and education regarding acute and chronic behavioral health conditions.
- Accurately and completely charts information regarding patient interactions into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Works within and supports a team based and integrated care model, which includes medical assistants, other medical specialties, dental, behavioral health, patient navigation, and care coordination.
- Provides support to psychiatric emergencies at the clinic.
- Assist in expanding the psychiatric program within STRIDE.
- Attends clinic meetings, specialty meetings, provider meetings, all staff meetings, and all other meetings as assigned.
- Helps determine topics of interest for specialty meetings to evaluate the quality and efficiency of patient care needs.

Education and Formal Training:
- Master’s in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in Colorado.
- Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Current RN, RXN, and APRN licensure in good standing.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a PMHNP in an integrated clinical setting is preferred.
- Prior FQHC experience (preferred)
- Spanish fluency preferred, but not required

- Demonstrated knowledge in psychiatric specialty.
- Ability to interact positively and build rapport with patients, coworkers and/or external contacts.
- Ability to demonstrate the capability to effectively and sensitively respond to the needs and concerns of the full range of STRIDE’s diverse patient population.
- Ability to work independently and organize work in a manner that ensures accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to collaborate with other providers and clinical staff to develop continual quality improvement procedures.
- Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly.
- Ability to protect the confidentiality of patient, employee and business information.
- Skill in using a variety of computer software including but not limited to the internet and MS Office Products.
- Knowledge of and ability to work with electronic health records (EHR) system.
Tools you’ll use
Computer, printer, multi-line telephone systems, fax machine, copy machine, Microsoft Office Outlook, the internet and EHR. General medical equipment used for patient care.
Working Environment and Physical Activities
Office environment within a clinical setting. Enters patient data into computer programs via EMR database system, mouse and keyboard. Moves about the office environment and occasionally to other locations. Communicates information to others. Discerns/analyzes and synthesizes information from others to assist in decision making.

Work Schedule
40 hours split between our Peoria , Geneva , and Hampden & Chambers clinic.
We offer a competitive salary range of $126,000 - $156,000, depending on your experience.
This range reflects STRIDE’s good faith estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting. The final salary for the selected candidate will be determined based on several factors, including experience, education, budget, internal equity, specialty, and training.
