JOB SUMMARY
This position supports the fabrication department by performing a variety of general duties, including material handling, assisting machine operators, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and helping ensure efficient production flow. This role is key to keeping fabrication operations running smoothly and safely.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Assist fabrication personnel with setup, operation, and material movement.
• Load and unload raw materials, finished parts, and components as required.
• Operate basic shop equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, grinders, and saws (after training).
• Clean and organize work areas, tools, and equipment to maintain shop safety and efficiency.
• Support machine operators and welders by supplying materials and removing completed parts.
• Inspect parts visually for basic quality and conformance to specifications.
• Dispose of scrap and maintain accurate material counts when required.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing cutting fluids, emptying scrap bins, or sweeping floors.
• Follow all safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with special projects or other duties as assigned by supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred but not required.
Qualifications:
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools and power tools.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up-to 50 lbs. regularly.
• Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
• Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures typical of a fabrication shop.
