Position Overview:

The Solutions Architect at OCHIN plays a critical role in advancing the organization’s mission by leading the design, development, and optimization of technical solutions across the enterprise and collaborative network. This role works cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to propose, implement, and enhance systems that align with strategic goals and improve clinical and operational outcomes. 


As a key contributor to OCHIN’s Epic platform and broader health IT ecosystem, the Solutions Architect provides tactical architectural guidance, establishes technical standards, and oversees solution builds. This includes eliciting and analyzing business and technical requirements, ensuring secure and efficient workflows, and driving innovation through continuous improvement. 


Essential Functions:

 

  • Lead strategic technology planning, partnering with leadership to define long-term architecture roadmaps aligned with OCHIN’s clinical, operational, and business goals.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and consultant on complex design, architecture, and support challenges.
  • Design and implement strategic solutions to meet both internal and external needs.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend adoption strategies that enhance care delivery and system performance
  • Provide technical leadership, guiding teams through planning, development, and deployment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to diagnose and resolve complex system issues while enhancing system efficiency and performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and clinical outcomes.
  • Lead technical escalations, providing expert-level support across Epic EMR and enterprise/vendor systems to maintain operational continuity.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, and governance models to ensure consistency, scalability, and security across solutions.
  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation, fostering a culture of proactive problem- solving and modernization.
  • Support strategic projects and initiatives as assigned.


Requirements
  • 6 years’ experience with Epic application administration, that includes strong knowledge of Epic build, enhancements, and workflow.
  • 3 years’ experience or Epic certification in two or more of the following Epic modules is required: 
  •    *EpicCare Ambulatory, Radiant, ASAP, HIM, Prelude, Cadence, Hello World, Security, Identity, and Interconnect 
  • 3 years’ experience integrating external applications using SMART on FHIR, SAML, XML, Epic Private APIs, or device integration required
  • 2 years’ experience developing custom Epic code, or Epic Chronicles 
  • Database Programmer certification - Preference given to candidates with Database Programmer Certification
  • Experience in healthcare management preferred.  
  • Experience in organizational management with the ability to work across teams to develop and execute operational projects preferred. 
  • Experience in effectively leading a direct service organize with a complex array of programs with the ability to leverage strengths across program areas, excellent project management skills preferred.   
  • Prior to moving forward to the team interview, all candidates are required to complete a 50–60-minute competency assessment. Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Constant interpersonal skills, teamwork, and customer service. Frequent creativity, mentoring, presentations/teaching. Occasional decision making and independent judgment or action.  
  • Reading, speaking, writing, and understanding English.  
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.    
  • This position requires a virtual home-office environment, working remotely and will require that employees be on camera for all virtual meetings.
  • The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and mobile devices. 
  • Travel is required to support OCHIN’s business requirements for Go-Live installations or training which may require travel by air, vehicle, or train. 


Base Pay Overview 

OCHIN uses broadened pay ranges to support equitable and market-aligned compensation practices. The final offer will be based on a variety of factors, including relevant skills, certifications, education, experience, training, responsibilities, internal equity, and market data.


Work Location and Travel Requirements

OCHIN is a 100% remote organization with no physical corporate office location. Employees work remotely from home and many of our positions also support our member organizations on-site for new software installations. Nationwide travel is determined based on OCHIN business needs. Please inquire during the interview process about travel requirements for this position. 

Work from home requirements are: 

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently from a home office environment 
  • High Speed Internet Service 
  • It is a requirement that employees work in a distraction free workplace 
  • Travel up to 15% may be required on-site Go Live support based on business requirements for OCHIN
