Miami Children's Museum is seeking an energetic and passionate Dance Instructor to join our Mini Masters Art & Theater Program. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys helping children build confidence, develop new skills, and express themselves through dance in a fun and supportive environment.
As a member of our teaching artist team, you'll lead engaging afterschool dance classes, develop choreography, prepare students for performances, and help create meaningful arts experiences that foster creativity, teamwork, and self-expression.
This part-time afterschool position serves one or more community school sites, including:
- Liberty City Elementary
- Kelsey Pharr Elementary
- Earlington Heights Elementary
- Brentwood / Fredrica Wilson Skyway Elementary
- Goulds Elementary
- Miami Children’s Museum Charter School
- Henry E.S. Reeves K–8
Essential Responsibilities:
- Teach dance classes for students in grades K–5 in styles such as ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, creative movement, and musical theater.
- Plan and lead engaging lessons, warm-ups, technique exercises, choreography, and creative movement activities.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation, confidence, and artistic growth.
- Support students in developing coordination, teamwork, discipline, stage presence, and self-expression through movement.
- Prepare students for showcases, performances, and special events through rehearsals and performance coaching.
- Collaborate with fellow teaching artists and program leadership to deliver high-quality arts programming.
- Participate in performances, family events, and other program activities as needed.
- Experience teaching dance, choreography, or performing arts programs for children or youth.
- Strong proficiency in one or more dance styles, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, creative movement, and/or musical theater.
- Experience working in schools, afterschool programs, studios, camps, or community-based youth programs.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Passion for youth development, arts education, and helping students build confidence through creative expression.
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to support performances, showcases, and special events.
Schedule:
Part-Time Afterschool Position
- Weekdays approximately 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Additional hours may be available for rehearsals, showcases, performances, meetings, and special events.
