Aseptic Batching Operator - Second Shift
Description

Core duties and responsibilities 

  • Ingredient management: Precisely inspect, weigh, and stage ingredients for mixing according to a specific formula or batch record.
  • Aseptic equipment operation: Set up, operate, and monitor complex aseptic equipment, including tanks, mixers, sterilizers, and filtration systems.
  • Sanitation and sterilization: Perform and verify cleaning-in-place (CIP) and sterilization-in-place (SIP) processes for all equipment to prevent contamination.
  • Quality assurance: Conduct in-process checks and tests, such as measuring
    and other analytical results, to ensure the product meets quality specifications.
  • Process monitoring: Use human-machine interfaces (HMIs) to monitor and adjust critical control points (CCPs) for factors like temperature and pressure to ensure sterility is maintained.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions or process deviations and work with maintenance or quality teams to address issues.
  • Documentation: Accurately and legibly document all production activities, including ingredient lot numbers, quantities, processing data, and quality checks, in batch records and logs.
  • Adherence to safety and compliance: Follow all company safety protocols, including LOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out) procedures, and adhere to regulatory guidelines such as SQF, cGMP and HACCP.
  • Material handling: Use equipment like pallet jacks or forklifts to move and manage ingredients and finished products safely.

Qualifications and skills 

  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is the minimum requirement. Technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • Experience: Prior experience in food manufacturing or a highly regulated production environment is typically required, with aseptic or cleanroom experience being highly desirable.
  • Aseptic technique: Strong knowledge and consistent practice of aseptic techniques to prevent product contamination.
  • Mechanical aptitude: The ability to operate, disassemble, and reassemble complex machinery, and perform minor maintenance.
  • Computer proficiency: Comfort using computer systems for data entry and monitoring production controls.
  • Attention to detail: A high degree of accuracy is essential for following recipes, procedures, and documentation.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with supervisors and documenting processes.
  • Problem-solving: The ability to identify issues and find effective solutions.
  • Physical endurance: The role often requires standing for long periods and the ability to lift a moderate amount of weight (e.g., 50 pounds).

What You Need to Succeed

  • PPE: Steel-toed slip resistant rubber boots and lift belt required.
  • Ability to stand or walk for 8 hours.
  • Bending/Flexing/Extending
  • Frequently grip, reach, lift, or pull with both hands.
  • Ability to lift 45lbs consistently.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Detail oriented and follow instruction without fail.
