The Jewish Community Campus, located in Overland Park, is a 280,000 square foot building on 29-acre grounds. The building is home to nine agencies including the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City. The building includes a preschool; K-12 private school; 500-seat theater; fitness center; indoor and outdoor pool; commercial kitchens; private offices; and public meeting/rental spaces.
The Supervisor, Maintenance is a working supervisor who performs a majority of maintenance and facilities duties directly while providing day-to-day leadership to the maintenance team. This position ensures that buildings, grounds, and equipment are safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for staff, program participants, and visitors. The Maintenance Supervisor leads by example, prioritizing hands-on work while coordinating tasks, supporting team members, and maintaining high standards of service and safety.
Schedule
- Flexible schedule, typically working M-F 8:00 am-4:30pm but also including occasional evenings or weekends, as needed based on business needs.
Essential Functions
- Provides direct service for projects requiring plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting and room setups/tear downs.
- Provides direct supervision of subordinates on the Facilities Maintenance Team, which includes hiring, training, supervising, reviewing and managing performance issues.
- Serves as liaison between Director, Facilities and Facilities Maintenance Team, which includes implementing Director’s decisions through the work of direct reports and keeping Director informed regarding staffing, performance, etc.
- Creates and maintains positive relationships with Campus tenants by listening, problem-solving and providing timely communication about ongoing repairs and projects.
- Proactively identifies potential and existing service needs and rectifies and/or escalates to Director for consultation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of hands-on maintenance or facilities experience including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Demonstrated ability to perform a wide range of general maintenance tasks.
- Prior experience leading or supervising staff, formally or informally.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background screening, if required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
