Job Title: Senior Manager, AI Engineering


POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Senior Manager, AI Engineering, you will provide strategic leadership and direction to 2 to 3 small, senior-caliber engineering teams operating in an AI-first development culture. Engineers across the organization leverage Claude to accelerate delivery and execute on multiple initiatives simultaneously. You’d guide your teams in understanding client needs, setting project goals, and ensuring successful implementation. This position manages 2–3 high-performing implementation teams of senior engineers who build, iterate, and ship using AI-assisted development as a standard practice. The AI Engineering Lead will drive delivery against the product roadmap—making decisive scope and prioritization calls in partnership with Product Owners to ensure on-time execution—while also supporting the company’s rapid growth as we double our client base. The role is critical to delivering client implementations and related new features at scale.

 

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Recruiting and Onboarding 

  • Champion collaborations with TA and existing external sourcing vendors, enhancing strategies for attracting top tier engineering talent. 
  • Refine onboarding methodologies, ensuring uniform integration of engineers across multiple teams. 
  • Engage with organizational leaders to co-design and champion career progression frameworks, ensuring clarity and motivation for engineering talent.

Team Management and Performance Enhancement:

  • Manage 2/3 diverse team of engineers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and individual aspirations. 
  • Mentor an Engineering Talent Manager, fostering their growth and reinforcing best practices. 
  • Streamline and elevate career paths by aligning roles and projects with individual talents and aspirations. 
  • Innovate team structures to drive cross-functional collaboration, ensuring efficiency and fostering innovative solutions. 

Data-Driven Insights

  • Dive deeper into analytics, utilizing health and productivity metrics to unearth latent risks and capitalize on emerging opportunities. 
  • Connect the dots between talent metrics and broader business objectives, building a narrative around the tangible impact of optimized team dynamics
  • Innovate process improvements grounded in data-driven insights 

Technical Oversight & Strategy

  • Champion an AI-first engineering culture, ensuring teams leverage Claude and other AI development tools to maximize throughput and quality across all initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and AI-augmented development where engineers are empowered to move faster and deliver more.
  • Drive delivery against the product roadmap—partnering closely with Product Owners to prioritize features, cut scope where needed, and maintain on-time delivery commitments. Lead the team through critical client implementations and new feature builds as the company scales to double its client base.

Cultural Advocacy & Alignment

  • Champion collaboration with fellow team members to establish culture expectations from engineering teams. 
  • Introduce innovative practices that challenge norms 
  • Collaborate with fellow team members to refine alignment in team meetings with organizational objectives.

  • Facilitate the creation, and management of data and information repositories, ensuring optimal accessibility. 
  • Foster an environment of proactive domain-specific knowledge sharing among team members.

  • Pioneer refinements in delivery processes by adopting innovative methods. 
  • Address and mitigate organizational risks linked to skill and technical gaps.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in a specialty pharmacy, medical insurance, reimbursement hub experience, physician’s office, healthcare setting, and/or insurance background preferred 
  • Five to seven years as a Manager with a team size of six or more 

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities 
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development, preferably with Claude Code
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams in AI-first development workflows
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations 
  • Detailed oriented and highly organized

  • Knowledge of pharmacy benefits, and medical benefits
