Repair Welder
Description

The Repair Welder is responsible for repairing and fabricating metal components using Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) and other welding processes in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to produce high-quality work while supporting equipment repair and manufacturing operations. Occasional nationwide travel may be required.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, job travelers, and work instructions.
  • Verify material quality, quantities, and specifications prior to welding.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment according to job requirements.
  • Weld small and large components in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
  • Cut, trim, grind, and prepare materials for welding using hand tools and plasma or torch equipment.
  • Inspect completed welds and measurements to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Accurately log time and completion of job tasks
  • Safely operate cranes, hoists, and material-handling equipment.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools in safe working condition.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Assist with other duties and special projects as assigned.

  

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience

· Welding training and experience required.

· Associate degree or technical certification in welding preferred.

· Proven welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or repair environment.

Preferred Competencies

· Proficiency with MIG welding and familiarity with other welding processes.

· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

· Experience using hand and power tools, measuring devices, and fabrication equipment.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

· Knowledge of workplace safety practices and safe equipment operation.

· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook for communication and documentation.

· Ability to maintain DOT logbooks and utilize ELD/mobile app software for compliance and recordkeeping.

· Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Physical Requirements

· Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting.

· Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lift over 100 lbs. with assistance.

· Ability to safely use welding, fabrication, and material-handling equipment.

· Requires hearing, vision, speech, tactile awareness, and depth perception necessary to perform welding and inspection tasks.
