Title: Impact Specialist I, Gonzales Teen Innovation Center (GTIC)- [40 hours/week – full benefits]
Work Schedule:
Full-time, non-exempt; generally to be scheduled up to 40 hrs/week, between 8:00 am-7:00 pm, Monday-Fridays; Occasional evenings and weekends for field trips and special events.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Site Supervisor, GTIC the Impact Specialist I drives youth success through outstanding, Mission-driven and integrity-centered leadership at the GTIC. S/he accomplishes this by engaging, age-appropriate and outcome-driven programs serving youth ages 11-18. Support youth to ultimately achieve on-time grade progression, high school graduation, college/postsecondary readiness and education leading to a livable wage career, healthy lifestyle and engaged citizenship. This position involves flexible hours due to morning programming at school sites and afternoon program at the GTIC. This position requires a high level of community relations with school administrators and city officials. The Impact Specialist I’s primary work location is the Boys & Girls Club administrative office in Salinas and the GTIC.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Youth Success
- Foster a safe, positive, fun and impactful program where participants acquire a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, power and influence
- Implement daily after-school activities, ensuring they are developmentally appropriate and engaging for teens
- Support the implementation of school day programming in partnership with the SC team
- Foster a safe, positive, fun, and impactful Teen Center environment where 75-100 youth attend daily
- Provide homework support for middle and high school science, math, technology, literacy, and reading
- Lead SAT/ACT Preparation and college advising; and implement Boys & Girls Clubs of America programming
- Facilitate college, career preparation, and life skills workshops including coordinating college tours, internships, and developing trade skill opportunities
- Implement monthly case management for teens
- Demonstrate mastery of classroom management
- Address youth behavior with a positive discipline approach that is fair, firm, consistent and kind
- Support a culture of high expectations and frequent recognition of youth for their efforts and achievements
- Responsible for delivery of school-day and after-school program commitment established in quarterly/annual goals
- Implement Club program goals, activities, and schedules
- Support program intake documentation, enrollment and track program attendance
- Support recruitment and enrollment strategies to grow teen participation to meet program goals
- Ensure program environment is safe and inviting for all participants
- Engage parents to support youth success
Program Development & Public Relations
- Support with recruitment and hiring of Youth Development Professionals and volunteers
- Participate in BGCMC special events and fundraisers
- Contributes to Club special event planning and execution (i.e. Family Nights and program celebrations)
- Promptly reports site safety, maintenance, and technology and facility concerns to Operations Department, School officials, and City of Gonzales leadership as applicable
- Comply with formal agreements (Memorandum of Understanding) with city and district partners
- Support strategies that build awareness of the GTIC program with the greater community
- Maintain partnerships with school campuses/districts and city officials
- Protect BGCMC’s solid reputation as a respected, trusted & impactful youth development organization
Safety Measures
- Ensures safety and order in all aspects of program operations, including field trips and youth services delivered at non-BGCMC locations as well as compliance to policy and standard operating procedures
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures determined by each site location
- Maintain inventory, ensure equipment/supplies are in good working order and stewarded for intended use
Collateral Duties
- Provide support as assigned to other departments and/or sites
- Performs other duties as assigned in alignment with fulfilling primary function of position
Education & Experience:
- Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in Education or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three years experience in youth development
- Tech savvy, including proficiency in utilizing AI, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Internet for maximum productivity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have reliable transportation
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- The ability to bend, lift, stretch
- Willingness to occasional travel to various locations in Monterey County to provide program services
- The ability to remain in stationary position including standing or sitting for up to 25% of shift
Highly desirable qualifications:
- Oral and written Spanish fluency
- A valid driver's license and clear driving history is highly desirable
- Connectedness and experience working and living in Gonzales and South County
- Experience as a youth development professional in the Boys & Girls Club Movement
- First Aid & CPR Certification
COMPENSATION:
Salary range is $24.77 - 26.02. Paid benefits package including accrual of up to two-week paid vacation, 56 hours paid sick leave, plus 24 hours of paid California Healthy Workplace Healthy Family sick leave, medical, vision, dental, life and disability insurance, pension and 403(b) plan investment options. This position is classified as non-exempt and as such is eligible for the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
