Description
Position Summary:
The Project Engineer is responsible for the technical execution and overall coordination of custom air handling equipment projects. This role combines engineering design, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure customer requirements are translated into accurate, manufacturable solutions. The Project Engineer oversees projects from initial design development through startup and project closeout, while serving as a key link between Sales, Manufacturing, Vendors, and Customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate project requirements, specifications, and customer expectations to develop effective equipment solutions.
- Perform equipment selections and engineering calculations for major system components, including fans, compressors, coils, and related HVAC equipment.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including bills of material, drawings, and detailed manufacturing packages.
- Lead assigned projects throughout the project lifecycle, from design release and customer submittals through production, shipment, installation support, and startup completion.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve design questions, support production activities, and ensure successful project execution.
- Review engineering deliverables with peers and contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to design standards, workflows, and best practices.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues that arise during fabrication, installation, or field operation of equipment.
- Provide technical guidance and support for engineering software, design tools, and product configuration systems.
- Partner with suppliers to evaluate new technologies, components, and product enhancements for integration into future designs.
- Maintain clear communication with internal stakeholders to ensure projects remain on schedule, within scope, and aligned with customer expectations.

Requirements
- BS in Engineering and 5 years or more of industry experience, preferably related to commercial air handling products. Or, 8 years or more of industry experience in sizing and selecting air handler equipment
- Strong thermodynamics background preferred – especially with refrigeration or heat recovery systems.
- Broad knowledge of applied Engineering principles mechanical disciplines.
- AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other CAD software proficiency required.
- Detail-oriented, ability to plan, organize, set priorities and manage multiple projects.
- High level of analytical ability is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required.
- Ability to travel independently. Travel is infrequent and less than 10%.
