Chilton Trust (“CTC”) is a private wealth management firm launched in 2010 by Richard L. Chilton Jr. CTC offers full-service, bespoke private wealth management services, including asset allocation advice, management of separate portfolio accounts, tax advice, trust and estate planning and family office services. CTC has offices in Charlotte, Connecticut, Delaware, New York and Palm Beach.

Key Functions of the Chief Trust Officer include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsibility for supervision of all the      Company’s trust operations and related activities. 
  • Responsibility for the review of all new      fiduciary accounts, and trust instruments governing any trust accounts of      foundation/endowments, records of the prior fiduciary (if any) and the      purposes of the estate or trust, including its income, estate and tax      status. 
  • Provide and present recommendations to the Trust      Committee regarding acceptance or rejection of a fiduciary      appointment. 
  • Serve as a member of the Trust Committee.
  • Prepare Investment Policy Statements (“IPS”), together      with the Wealth & Client advisory team members,  for every fiduciary relationship and      monitor compliance of all investments with the IPS and the terms of the      governing instrument.
  • Work in tandem with our Wealth Planners to serve as an estate      planning/tax/wealth advisor to clients and prospective clients of      CTC. 
  • Duties include reviewing client/prospect estate planning      documents, assets and liabilities, and family situation and goals. Consult with other members of the CTC      team and meet with clients and prospects. 
  • Keep current on estate/gift and income tax developments, attend      seminars (including Heckerling), and provide internal educational updates.
  • Cultivate relationships with referral sources (attorneys,      accountants, etc.) and plan and attend marketing events for selective      referral sources including prospects.
  • Provide updates and articles for CTC quarterly letters and other      publications.
  • Responsible for day-to-day administration of all trust accounts      and estate administrations (including supervising distributions, wire      transfers, etc. with CTC’s primary custodian). 
  • Prepare for and supervise audits by the Office of the Comptroller      of the Currency and Florida Office of Financial Regulation and CTC’s      independent fiduciary auditors.
  • Conduct and present to the Trust Committee an annual review of all      CTC accounts and a post 90 day acceptance review of all new CTC accounts.
  • Willingness and positive energy to do any other tasks to help      build the business of CTC.

  

Candidate Description

· Direct experience (10+ years) in estate and trust law through either a law firm or private wealth management company. Law degree, LLM in tax or CFP a plus.

· Confident self-starter willing to do what it takes to help build a business

· Ability to anticipate needs and independently learn new skill sets on the job

· Ability to handle confidential matters

· Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion with sensitive issues

· Excellent oral and written communication skills 

· Ability to work with a diverse range of work styles and levels in a productive manner

· Organized, with a strong attention to detail

· Ability to travel occasionally
