Job Summary: The Controller leads our accounting department, focusing exclusively on the financial operations of the properties we manage. This role involves developing and managing our accounting team, communicating with stakeholders, working with auditors and ensuring accurate and efficient financial processes and reporting for each property we manage. The successful candidate will possess a blend of accounting expertise, management/leadership skills, and a drive to ask questions and improve processes, systems and tools. 


Key Responsibilities:

· Lead the accounting team in the preparation of accurate accounting and reporting for each managed community, ensuring timely and accurate reporting

· Oversee and continue enhancing the internal financial statement review process to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with company and financial reporting standards

· Monitor and analyze financial performance across managed communities, identifying trends, variances, and areas requiring operational or financial attention.

· Ensure compliance with company financial policies, internal controls, regulatory requirements, and applicable accounting standards 

· Provide training, guidance, and leadership to the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous development

· Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and control systems to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting department to streamline processes and leverage technology for better efficiency and accuracy. 

· Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, regulatory agencies, financial consultants, and other key stakeholders as required


Qualifications:

· Exceptional leadership skills with experience in team development and staff management.

· Proven track record of process improvement and the ability to drive efficiency in accounting operations.

· Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

· Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/leadership role 

· CPA license preferred.
