Salary: $ 26 Hourly PT Hours
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is primarily responsible for serving as a mentor coach, who is committed to supporting and guiding youth hired through My CHI My Future Program with the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services. The role is to provide direct service to 15 youth ages 16-24 years old over a pre-schedule span of 26 weeks and responsible for administrative duties that align with this youth employment and special events planning program.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Must be able to make a 500 hour per year commitment adhering to funder-determined program schedule.
- Recruit and hire 15 youth from the Brighton Park community.
- Process Payroll for the 15 youth.
- Responsible for recruitment and retention of program participants.
- Ensure that all training, curricula, evaluation and other requirements are met.
- Guide youth in development and implementation of 3 youth & community kickback events and 6 Teen and Young Adult events planned.
- Liaison to community vendors that participate in youth-led events, ensuring payment.
- Coordinate permitting process as needed for outdoor “activations”
- Develop and maintain a positive relationship with youth and partner site leads.
- Communicate effectively and administer the program policies and procedures to youth.
- Track and follow up with youth on the completion of mandatory forms
- Track, manage and ensure the accuracy of youth timesheets for payroll approval
- Enter all youth’s attendance/timesheet into CitySpan system
- Ensure youth are connected to MCMF platform.
- Ensure all curricula are completed by the youth.
- Encourage youth to participate in speaker series and All Teen Gatherings.
- Attends mandatory trainings implemented by SGA and funder.
- Responsible for following up with youth that have inconsistent attendance.
- Implements other services requested by SGA or funder
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
- High School Degree Required
- Associates in Human Services, Education, Psychology, Social Work or a related field preferred
Experience:
- Experience working with youth of diverse backgrounds required.
- One to three years of related experiences or a combination of training, education, and experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of youth development required
- Must be Bilingual
Other:
- Sensitivity to cultural diversity is required. Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse families, various professionals and community groups.
- Must have a vehicle with valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude working in a high-intensity environment.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of service providers, community events, or the organization.
- Exercises discretion and independent judgment in executing tasks.
- Must demonstrate ability to handle emergency and crisis situations.
- Must be able to take initiative.
- Ability to work varying hours Monday - Friday, Schedule may include some evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
- Must be able to frequently move inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
- Constantly moves to assist during program activities.
- At times, it may be required to lift up to 25 lbs. for various needs.
- Frequently moves in outdoor weather conditions.
