Position: Senior Machinist 

Role

The Senior Machinist is a highly skilled worker who operates and troubleshoots sophisticated manual and CNC equipment to produce intricate parts using various machines, tools and techniques. Other abilities include a deep understanding or quality measures, mentoring junior Machinist, and ensuring adherence to strict specifications and deadlines, advanced knowledge of blueprints, machining techniques, and various tooling. The ability to maintain safety standards within a manufacturing environment.  This position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor and is located in our fabrication plant in Franklin, Pennsylvania. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

Meeting the production schedule:

Reviewing production orders, workflow, and capacity planning to meet the on-time delivery of parts. 

Interpreting technical drawings:

Accurately reading and understanding complex blueprints and engineering drawings to determine machining requirements. 

Complex Setups and Operation:

Prepare and run CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines for high-precision components.

Programming & Editing:

Write and edit CNC programs using G-code, conversational controls, or CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fanuc, Mazatrol)

Quality control:

Conduct thorough inspections of finished products to identify and rectify any defects, ensuring compliance with quality standards and specifications. 

Mentorship and training:

Providing guidance and training to less experienced machinists on proper techniques, safety procedures and quality standards. 

Problem-solving:

Capability to identify and troubleshoot machining issues that may arise.

Maintaining equipment:

Properly operating and maintaining fabrication machinery, including routine cleaning and reporting any maintenance needs. 

Fixture equipment:

Fixture design, development, and management, with the assistance of production engineering. 

Tooling management:

Specifying and management of tooling needs and inventory.

Project management:

Contributing to project planning by estimating timelines and material requirements for complex projects. 

• 7+ years of professional CNC programming and machining experience
• Advanced proficient in reading and understanding complex engineering drawings and GD&T tolerancing 
• Expertise in various machining techniques, fixture design and tooling selection 
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools 
• High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing project requirements 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
• Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance with industry standards
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
